My dealer informed me that the current DSP3100HC (black) is only in matt black version. However, I look at the promotion brochure and the photograph showed a glossy surface on its top. The DSP5200HC is in piano black. I got confused with this.

I have not seen the real item of a DSP3100HC but only test a pair of DSP3100 (silver); and grateful would someone provide information on the surface finishes of the top surface and side surface of the DSP3100HC (black)?

Does the DSP3100HC has a very similar surface finishes with the DSP33C?

From examples which I've seen, the side panels of 3100s are in exactly the same finish/texture as the G Series units, so you have silver or black. The tops and bottoms are piano gloss black in both cases.

I can't speak for the HC version but my black 3100's have a matt finish to them. The glossy top bit is actually a glass panel in keeping with other Meridian products

I have one in black. Top is matt and sides are glossy. Looks like a regular DSP3100 but rotated 90 degrees.

Yep, the sides of the vertical 3100 have aluminium plates bonded with the MDF. They have a black satin coat to them.
The top and even the bottom are wood finished in piano gloss vernish. It goes well with the 500 series actually.
I wish I could have one of those...
