Meridian pre amp 502
Meridian power amp 557

Still trawling for the above items in good condition.
I had one 502 coming my way but the seller had some trouble with the replacement for the 502 so the deal is off for now (no worries mate).

Hi, thanks for letting me know. As it seems I have located a 502 from snail67 on the forum here and a 557 has surfaced here in Sweden, we are still debating the price on the 557 though.

If I hadn't had the G55 multichannel amp your set up would have been a good choice for me.

That's great news HenRun. My search for a 502 continues. Glad you've managed to find one.

Thanks in advance...

I just offered USD 775 for a Meridian 557...is this a reasonable price...with that, assuming the USD 775 is rejected what is the maximum / most price that is reasonable...

Thanks in advance.

A year and a half ago I paid 2100 euro ($2800 at current rate) for two 557's in Europe, but the prices in the US always seem to be lower.

Right, appreciate that but the question is how much lower...

Although I have cince closed the transaction and purchased the amplifier I am nonetheless curious as to what a fair / reasonable price would be...that said, I now have to get the bloody thing to me...

Am happy with the purchase as it match -- both cosmetically and sonically -- my 558.2 amplifier...

Surely, its supply and demand. If you are happy to pay the price and the seller was happy to sell at the price, then it is a fair and reasonable price for the transaction. I can only assume that you did not buy under duress nor did the seller was not forced into a sale. Supply and demand can be very localised.

On audiogon there is one listed for $900, which seems to be slightly at the high end, but still a reasonable price given the amazing quality of the amp.
