Shouldn't be a problem the Mclaren is about the same price as a projector & scaler (from Meridian).

Oooooh. I saw the car on the BBC News website today. Looks awesome, even if it is 150k.

Very logical move for Meridian. I know that M moving into automotive has been mentioned a number of times on this forum.

So that's where all the R&D effort is going!
Now what about some now long awaited goodies for the Core In-House-HiFi Market.

Aren't Meridian now based in the former Tag Mclaren Audio factory (chairman or Group MD at the time - Mr R. Dennis?). It's a small world...
Cheers,

Ed.

Mclaren could have used the TAG Mclaren audio in their system, too bad they went bust so soon.

Anyway, finally a real audio brand in a car audio system. Unlike some low brow mass market conglomerate slapping one of their high end holdings into a piece of low end electronic.

I hope Meridian know what they are doing. Getting car audio right takes a lot of development time and effort. The car environment is very different to your lounge.

I was literally thinking of the environmental conditions: vibration. shock, temperature change, humidity, solar radiation etc. but also the 12V power source is plagued with spikes, surges and dips.

It won't be easy to beat Alpine (as Linn found out).

Also, a lot of car systems are now integrated with satnav and the vehicle control system.

I think it's goto be a one-off. I simply can't see M being able to do. If they did, it would push back yet further the timescale to get the things we do want/'need' released......all assuming they haven't purchased Alpine !!!

I suspect so too. A single acoustic environment to work in and a car that lots of footballers are going to buy (= lots more full HT installs).
