Hi Guys,

can anyone help?

I've just taken delivery of a new G98, (welcome to MHR and DVD-A and correct sound steerage in movies - the sound is superb), unfortunately I can't get it to talk correctly to my Panasonic plasma.

If I set the Scaler to Deinterlace only it works correctly.
If I set it to Auto or 720p I only get a picture across 3/4 of the screen
If I set it to 1080i I get an unwatchable flicker.

This is most strange as the set accepts 720p, 1080i and 1080p material from both my PS3 and my Denon DVD.

Am I missing something?

Cheers

Harry

Hi Harry,

I had similar problems with my 800D when connected to a Pioneer Kuro LX6090 via HDMI.
The scaler options where deinterlace, 720p, 1080i and Automatic.

I updated the firmware, which then added 1080p to the menu options which work fine.

I suggest you check your firmware version against Mconfig to see if it is up to date.

Hope this helps
Carl.

I've had problems with 1080p from my G98 since day one. My 598 DP SDI and Crystalio were infinitely better and I regret the day I 'upgraded' to the G98.

Mine is heading for a skip soon.

Hello Harry,
Does your G98 give an error code in its display?
At first I agree with Carl about updating the firmware.
I had lots of problems with an HDCP error. At the end it wasn't caused by my G98 but by a Gefen switcher. That was replaced and things work fine now.

What Pioneer (model) have you got?

I've got a 506 and I needed to set the G98 to 720 or 1080 manually to get it to work. Auto was hopeless.

Hi Smurf, I assume it's me your asking, as rawlander doesn't mention Pioneer, it's in my signiture, but I have edited my post and included it there as well.

Regards,
Carl.

Hi Guys,

many thanks for your comments.

For clarification it's a Panasonic TH-42PX60B connected by HDMI to the G98 v1.23
looking on the Wiki the latest version is 2.34 so I'll try a firmware upgrade first.

Cheers

Harry

I think you'll find 2.47 is the latest version.
I can confirm that works fine with a Panasonic.

Now - Does anybody have a solution to a sticky door on a G98?

Liam

Hi Harry, That's great news. Updating to latest firmware is always a good start when diagnosing issues with flashable M kit.

Thanks Carl!

I am very impressed with the sound quality, I suppose it's partly the 98 and partly due to the MHR link but DVD's have taken on a new dimension.
