I am in the US and there seems to be a startling lack of reviews regarding the DSP 5200 speakers. Are there any I've missed that someone can point me to? What is the general consensus on these speakers?

Hi, Welcome to the Forum. Us mere mortals Drool over them, They are a great speakers.
I am sure you will get pointers to reviews, there may be links to some on Meridians Web site. Cheers, Chris smile

Didn't our very own John Kotches review them for WideScreenReview?

Couple of links in duncs archive at the bottom of the page .

These more than likely won't include Speakerlink which is now included as standard .

And to be explicit about what Manus is saying, the newer DSP5200.2's (available since about April of this year) also include Meridian's New Upsampling / Apodizing filter

To complex to go into here, but Apodizing is a very large step forward in Music Replay

Find a dealer who will give you a properly setup demo and you won't be dissappointed

And to be explicit about Ronnie is saying wink , this new filter is available in v1.30 (1.33 for 5200c) which is a free update to the original version of these speakers.

We saw and heard a lot of jaw-dropping stuff at HH2.

For me the stand-out memory was the sound of a gong played through a pair of 5200s - I believe the word is "awesome".

I have 5 DSP5200s bought on the back of discussions with JK and a number of auditions. I've never been happier with any sound I have heard out of any speakers (admittedly never heard DSP8000s) but off to CEDIA on Friday in Sydney, Australia. Also, my wife loves the look of them - piano black.

3x DSP5200 L, R and C (all vertical), 4x Triad Silver in-wall surrounds and 6x Triad Silver in-ceiling ATMOS speakers, Triad Silver subwoofer, Denon AVR-X8500H, JVC DLA-7500 4K projector and Screen Research 120" AT 2.35:1 screen.

why is it that the 5200 were released before the 3100 and gets upsampling firmware upgrade and the 3100 not? Also why the 5200 has fifo buffer and the 3100 not? I know that is kind of rhetorical questions!

Thanks to all who have chimed in so far. Out of curiosity, is the update something you can apply easily on your own at home? Or does it have to be done through your dealer?
