The speakers themselves can be set to Free-standing, Near Wall or Corner placement. This will alter their bass output accordingly. Walls reinforce bass and therefore the speaker can be set to produce less intrusive bass if needed.
There is also a Bass + - setting as well..
DSP8000SE, DSP7200SEHC, DSP5200SE sides, DSP7200SE rears, 861v8, 210, Sim2 Ultranero 4, Stewart Cinecurve 2.35:1, XEIT CM-5E Anamorphic lens, Dune HD Duo Cinema 8K and Wireworld Platinum 48G HDMI -> UHD722 -> Shunyata Omega Ethernet. Shunyata/Furutech power-cables/filters. SR Master Fuse@861v8. Uptone Etherregen with 10MHz OCXO clock.

With all these settings, how important does the room size become then?

You'll be fine with 5200's.
Great speakers, you'll love them.

Hi Sony
5200s will work in your room size. I've previously had 5000s and then 6000s in an 11' square room, with similar separation to the 6' you propose. Just checked though, the new 5200 MkIIs have one SPDIF and one RJ45 SpeakerLink, rather than the previous 2 x SPDIF, which is what you need for your twin source system (RJ45 will be used in future on Meridian sources, and has already appeared on the 808.2 and HD621, but that wouldn't help you at present).
The boundary settings which Crion mentioned in detail are in addition to "normal" tone controls.
Cheers George

Cheers fellas.
I guess now it's just a case of popping along to my dealer and listening.
