Here is something quite different, Xavier Rudd and The United Nations, "Nanna".
MQA Tidal.
If you think your speakers are humming it's just the Didge.

Here is another recommendation. My correspondent Maneli Jamal has just released his new album "Ambient Sketchbook" available on Tidal and I believe Spotify and other streaming sources.
Please listen and give some feedback, it would be much appreciated.
Previous albums "The Ziur Movement", "The Mardom Movement" and "The Lamaj Movement' document musically his history and travels to US and finally to Canada from his homeland origin.

Wonderful creations. Highly recommended and superbly recorded.

Sonny Clark Memorial Quartet - Voodoo

John Zorn and his chums behaving (for once) and playing excellent hard bop tunes in very good sound quality. Not on Tidal and took me a while to track down the CD but well worth it.

Tom Zé - Studies of Tom Zé: Explaining Things So I Can Confuse You

David Byrne mentioned him during his Desert Island Discs last week. Currently streaming via TIDAL - an interesting overview of Zé's career including Bossa Nova, and Samba played on typewriters.

Sorry Bamba (aka Sory Bamba and Sory Bamba du Mali) - Dogon Blues

Malian music with some European influences and production. Good to excellent. Not on TIDAL but CD available S/H from Amazon UK or (as I did) new from Amazon France at a bargain EUR 5.99 here.

Wonderful perfect quadraphonic sound with distortion levels so low as to make a brave man weep smile

One of my favorite vinyl albums is now available as MQA version on TIDAL - and it sounds great! FAIRYTALES with Radka Toneff voice and Steve Dobrogosz piano.

It's really hard to tell if the LP sounds better or the streamed MQA version. One thing's for sure, the MQA album doesn't crack as much. wink

This is a ‘White Glove’ MQA album. It sounds great even un decoded for sure.

Thanks Duke for the heads up
+1 for this Radka Toneff album, oft played as a demo at HiFi shows.
This was the first CD ever played on my 500 player to 18 bit 5000's. I will compare the Red Book v MQA version as soon as I get a chance and report back.

Compared Radka Toneff / Steve Dobrogosz "Fairy Tales" CD with MQA Tidal stream 192k. As Chris Layer states above the MQA version has certainly received the "White Glove Treatment". An amazing difference, however everyone has an opinion on remastering. Here immediately, the volume is the first huge difference, MQA version is louder by approx 5 steps on my 5200SE. Vocal is more forward with greater definition and the Piano is also elevated with more evident sustain.
I know which version I prefer.

Also available on Amazon as MQA CD, if I am not mistaken. Is this one of the first?

Hector just mentioned Ashley McBryde’s new Americana release in the MQA music thread. After a drought there are some tasty new albums by female vocalists in this Genre in new title releases on Tidal.
(After what seemed a drought to me). January ended with the exceptional Mary Gauthier- Rifles and Rosary Beads.
In the recent 4-6 weeks I would note:

- Ashley Monroe-Sparrow
- Kacey Musgrave-Golden Hour
- Courtney Marie Andrews-May Your Kindness Remain
- Brandi Carlisle-By the Way, I Forgive You

Big plug here also for Angeleena Pressley as an up and comer.

Slightly off topic, but we have pushed the boat out at The Little Rabbit Barn and Booked Courtney Marie Andrews for August.
Surprise surprise, it’s already sold out. Although it will cost myself and J a little extra money.

Loving the Ashley Mcbride Album.

I would like to add new album "Accidentally On Purpose" by the Shires to Mtns recent list. A very good album, MQA 44k, by a great British Duo.
Reminds me of The Black Feather's superb harmonies. Another great UK Duo. "Soaked To The Bone" available on Tidal, is wonderful.

From the last TIDAL MQA update:

Elina Duni - Partir (2018 ECM Records GmbH) [12 tracks, 88Khz]

As described over on the Roon forum, a real ECM gem.
