Just listening to 'Electric' from the terrific Richard Thompson. Not MQA (more's the pity) but hard to imagine a better recorded CD. Thompson is on great form; terrific songs and musicianship.

I saw Richard Thompson live at Fairport's Cropredy Convention ... music festival last weekend. Stunning.

Capacity crowd, it was Fairport's 50th this year.

Nice one! I last saw him three or four years ago in Sheffield. A truly great guitarist.

Long discography to choose from. As well as 'Electric', 'Mock Tudor' and 'Mirror Blue' are good places to start. Very distinctive and original songwriting which evokes a sense of place and a very English sensibility. Of the older albums which more directly reflect folk influences, 'I Want to See the Bright Lights' is regarded as a classic, although my preference has been for the quirky 'Hokey Pokey'. 'You, Me, Us' has a devastating acoustic set in part 2. I also love 'Henry the Human Fly', his first and very folky album.

Not everyone's cup of tea I suspect, but if nothing else the superb (mostly understated) guitar playing is worth a listen.

Hi All.
Many years ago I came across a busking band (The Huckleberries) in Bath UK led by Dave Hum. It is nearly 5 years since he prematurely succumbed to the big C, however he left a legacy of wonderful Bluegrass, Celtic and Original Composition recordings for us all to enjoy today.

Please visit his family maintained web site www.davehum.com to enjoy this archive of truly amazing busked music both Individual and with the Huckleberries.

A free download of his album Travelling Light is available here.

Happy to share this wonderful banjo pickin' talent with other members.

OK Travelling Light as an album is "Lossy" but it plays at MHR 88k on my M kit, wonderful.

Steven Wilson "To The Bone". Impossible to categorise but cracking stuff, beautifully crafted. On TIDAL but not MQA.

Hi Altus

Thank you but...

I see Steven Wilson "To The Bone" here with an MQA version (playing now MQA. 96k). Tidal album art work may have fooled you as it is not updated/correct.

Just a quick footnote to the above. 'Mock Tudor' and 'Mirror Blue' are both now in MQA 192k; the improvements are a revelation.

Hector

Has anyone managed to get the MQA version to play through Roon? For once Sooloos seems to be ahead of Roon.

Hector: you have PM
