Hi all,

I noticed a thread here where someone added a 4k HDHI switch to send 4k picture to the television and HDMI audio to the HD621.

I am wondering instead of getting a UHD772, Could I remove my HD621 and replace it with a HDfury switch box...

The question is: it possible to connect a single SPDIF coaxial to a G68 and have it decode DD and DTS?

The theater room is an in-wall DSP420/DSP33 setup, so the latest and greatest audio codecs are less important.

Of course I could keep the HD621 in the system to accept an HDMI LPCM stream from the HDfury, but for simplicity and power consumption conservation I am considering taking it out.

Thanks as always,
Ian S.

You could. But why? DD is 640kb/s. DTS is 1.5Mb/s. 5.1 LPCM is over 7Mb/s at 16/48. Even DD+ is ~5Mb/s.
Basically if you are limited to DD, you have less bitrate per channel than a 320kbps MP3. Do you like how they sound?

You could add an HDFury to your HD621. Then you'd get 4k and LPCM.

Ah. I knew I was missing something. Wow the bit rates are really low.
I was trying to have one less box using power.

Thanks.
