Thinking ahead to the next life stage when we will have more free time.

In light of the global reach of the HH network, I thought I would pose the following (in particular to you classical music fans): Having played instruments through undergraduate level and as long-term subscribers to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, my wife and I have been thinking it would be fun to attend concerts in other cities around the world.

What orchestras/concert halls would you recommend we put on our list?

Wow what a question. Way above my pay grade.
A few enquiries on the internet will give you some answers. If you are free on New Year's Day in the next five years I would enter every year, the lottery for tickets in Vienna.
However, patriotism takes over now, The Royal Albert Hall London in the Promenade Season is a must for your Bucket List. Great venue and a huge choice of visiting orchestras and programmes.
Hector
PS Love the look of Boston Hall.

I can agree with the Royal Albert Hall; it's a brilliant venue. I'm sure Proms season is a must for a classical music buff. I'm not one of them but the Barbican (also in London) should probably be on your list too. Sydney Opera House probably goes without saying I imagine.

Work in progress

If you are making a trip to the UK then the Royal Albert Hall is special.

There is also a marvelous classical music venue in Manchester called the Bridgewater Hall. It is designed for classical music with tremendous acoustics.

And I'll add Wigmore Hall in London. It's got a wonderful souped-up village hall feel to it (in the "bar" at least).

Fantastic acoustics and a great selection of guests.

Kings place, Kings Cross London. We saw Emily Barker there once and her pianist told us that he loves the venue as a couple o days before the gig they asked him, which Steinway he would prefer.

Comfy seats, amazing sound and great vision. What else do you want. One of our LRB Sound engineers used to do the sound there, maybe he still does... Simon Allen.

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. F80
