Thanks for your efforts Bruce.
My speakers use M SpeakerLink cables and Revivers to the Sub and Sides.
All worked fine with 861 and appeared ok with 32 unless it is more sensitive to interference?

Does it do it with the non-SpeakerLink speakers disconnected?

What’s the "high level burst"?

Do you control the volume from the Trinnov or the speakers? I assume you are using the DB25 AES digital connection?

After re-calibrating all over again, we seem to have sorted the 'flash burst' but there is still quite a thump emanating from the front 3 speakers possibly as a result of a lag between the 32 locking onto signal and then the 271. Less than elegant.

The 271 and DSPs are set to 87 and the volume is then adjusted by the Alt32 and the connection is indeed the DB25 although we are not using outputs 1-8 as when re-assigned to 9-16 this helped kill off the 'flash' for some reason.

Now, a different problem has emerged. For some reason the side speakers (5ks) have taken on the role and sound of the front speakers so a 2-ch CD from Roon now plays through these speakers and not the 7200.2s! Connections have been checked so this one is very odd!

Check all your presets. The questions I have been asking are all ones that I have been following up on with Meridian.

Will do, thanks Bruce.
Is there a way to inform the speakers that they are still in a ‘digital theatre‘, it’s just not a Meridian one entirely?

All they really need to know is if they are right or left so they pick the correct signal out of the digital stream.

That said, type 1 will work in most cases. Type 6 essentially gives you more menu options to label them as center or surrounds or in the instance of a center elevation enabled speaker the ability to do so.

Whats the status right now?
Based on your post, i try different test on my amethyst and also i have correspond with trinnov HQ.
That you should try out: ( no order) but to all!

1)
In Roon setup choose „headroom“ and start with -3B as a basic, as enough disk or stream sources have some 0 dB or be saturated to avoid clipping. Enable the clipping indicator light.

2)
Look in Trinnov in setup advanced setup the processor page and meters.
Press clear and then memory button, then it gets blue and store and show the peak level .
Play a track where the music is nearly saturated. After a while check the meters. When a clipping is appeared you see it, as the numbers get a red color .
Check the in and output meter to see where the clipping appear, on the input or generated through processing on the output.
If its on the input, select the „input“ sheet and adjust the input gain to minus one or 2 dB and try again.
When its on the output and not at the input, you can see the difference in dB and can either setup the „output“ to minus x dB or/and first decrease the gain/boost for the speaker in the setup for the amplitude(optimization setup basic and advanced.
Check again, when no clipping appears, that kind of problem is gone.

3)
At the Altitude, when you do the optmazion Prozess, the 48 kHz must be active, otherwise its a faulty setup.
The test noise from the Altitude is appearing when either a analoge source input is selected or you have forced the master 48kHz mode.If you dont like to select a analoge input just for the optimize prozess, unplug the digital sources on the Trinnov as otherwise the trinnov select it and use the wrong frequency.Yes, that is a bug, so you gave to follow that advice refer to TRinnov. After the measuremnt are done, that bug doesnt appear when you edit the Trinnov presets as they are just done mathematically.

4)
Use the Meridian remote app to correspond when you have a suited Meridian source.
If not, set one speaker or maybe the 271 as a master and try it with the MSR to control the volume of the DSP. It have to work, try when you do that first the „clear“ command in standby with the MSR.Then your master speaker have to react.
When this is working, you have the control over the speaker.

5)
Set the volume on the speaker to a moderate level and the Trinnov volume(just for test) to maybe minus 10dB. You should turn then in Roon the silent option on, that get active when a SF change get done.
I have no access to my network now, just can tell only all out of my weak memory, its there somewhere.
So the music streams get muted from ROON,and no noise should appear.
Test now all and as you have adjusted the Trinnov volume down from the maximum as the speaker, no harm get generated.
When all is done, listen to music and check more.
When no problems appear, turn the Trinnov Volume up to about minus 2dB and leave it there, assuming you have no analoge speakers.
Then turn the volume from the DSP down and listen, that the way it should used.
Only with analoge speakers you have to use the Trinnov volume.
To do so, the output from Trinnov is alyways full and the sound pressure level get adjusted via the speakers volume, what are a combination from digital and analoge regulation, so you get the best sound for digital speakers..

The „volume“ difference on the trinnov in and output (meters) is depending which parameters you have set in the Trinnov setup and also a upsampling can produce that .
Some bits get changed, and so maybe a clipping can appear.
Watch as described the input and output meters to have then the same peak amount shown by the „memory“ tab.

Hope that is correct explained, tell us about your progress.

Robert

Thanks , Robert , very good information . Also shows again the difference in attitude between M and Trinnov these days . I just received my M e-mail " please consult a PP " ( honestly , why have a 'Product Support' category then if you're not bothered to try to help ? ) I also contacted Trinnov about all this and was told by an agent that he had to go home and make dinner and put the kids to bed and he would check back with me a few hours later !

I'm really conflicted now about whether its advisable to use M in-walls for height speakers .

Anyway , I hope to have a go at some of your suggestions over the coming days ,

Thanks again

Dont know when you called, but my experience is that the head of the support,Mr. Antoine Selles from Trinnov HQ in Paris, even reply on sundays within minutes, and that is refer to him, a „standart“.
They also can go with remote control(VNC i guess) on your equipment to check that out.

My suggestion is to make or at least check all of my infos, you cant loose.

Good luck and. ...?

Robert
