Hi everyone a follow up to my previous post.

I have added a DSP33C to my system. I have downloaded the instructions for 565, following them I cannot get the 565 to give me settings for a center speaker.

I have changed the 5000 master to type 6 from type 1 which I understand adds a center speaker.
All I get on the 565 is balance and rear options.

Please help.

Hi

Have you created and uploaded a new config file to the 565 to tell it that a centre speaker is now present?

I can't remember from your other posts if this 565 is new to you, or if you've had it a while, but the processor will direct sound to whatever layout it knows is present. If it still thinks it's working with two speakers, there will be nothing sent to the centre channel.

Cheers

George

PS changing internal config on the DSP5000s has no bearing on what the processor does. It simply puts the 5000 in a suitable configuration to avail itself of how it expects the processor to behave.

The 565 installation guide (available above under Duncan's Meridian Info) seems to suggest that you set the processor to Type 3 (page 2 & 20). You can do that from the front panel.

Setting the speakers to type 6 means that they will respond to a Meridian processor.

All the DSPs (that are typeable) should be set to type 6 and then reconfigured (Master/Slave; Left/Right/Centre) as required.

Changing the Type of a DSP has no effect on the processor, you need to configure that separately ... it is covered in the processors user guide (see bxd's post) but you will need to read and reread it a few time (we've all been there) before it starts to make sence.

When following the process ... if this highlights any specific questions then please ask the forum for help.

Carl
