This post is related to DSP Speakers - New Firmware - MQA rendering refinements
As I didn't know which version of DSP8000SL I have, I installed the 3.16 firmware at that time although warnings have also been given here.
Still I don't know... and as it seemed that I didn't haven't any problems with it, I left the FW installed.
I have beside my 861 a Trinnov Amethyst for the fronts integrated in my audio since two years.
Now I made some changes in my room and want to measure that with the "optimizer" process and the Trinnov.
It doesn't work, big sync problems appeared and Trinnov HQ Paris and I spend a lot of hours to solve the "Trinnov" problem. It's absolute unbelievable, how good the support from Trinnov is, even on Sunday evening you get professional response from Mr. Antoine Selle (technical support mangager ) in minutes!!
I never had that in my whole live, congratulation and thanks here.
Anyway after multiple tests and hours also try other FW to solve the problems, it gets clear that the Trinnov is NOT the problem. My setup is:
218 feeds the 861 via SL, the ID40 is installed in the 861.
The 861 feeds via SL the Amethyst what also have a internal streaming card.
So I can stream with 218, 861 and the Amethyst.
The sync problem appears ONLY, when 48 kHz frequency feeds the DSP, independent if the Trinnov generate that as a master or used as a slave.
With all other frequencies 44.1/88.2/96 kHz everything is smooth.
It was a bad "game" to find that out as my systems always upsample, so 48kHz OUTPUT to the DSPs was very seldom.
But the "Optimizer" use it, and so the trouble search starts.
So finally I deinstalled the 3.16 FW and installed the 2.63.
Problem was gone!!
Even after the 2.63 install the "Identify" info was DSP8000.2/FW 2.63/Bios004/HW version0/and Z8: 2.033
So in my understanding it is a 8k.2SL version.
So check your speakers with an INPUT of 48kHz ONLY in
Next time I will more listen to the great dealer and other HH here on the forum.
