Since I have owned my Sooloos system I have been running a monthly backup with the Backup Wizard to a USB HD. It has run perfectly every time.
Now I think it’s time to run a FLAC backup (this will be my first time to FLAC) now that Meridian is no longer supporting Sooloos. NOT happy about that. The least they could do is support Sooloos as long as they support discontinued hardware.

Question:
In Control:PC I went into “Export Format” under “Settings” and changed MP3 to “None”.
Now when I go into “Export Tab” on the top of the settings page I get this message “Export features are not available because Sooloos helper processes are not running or unable to connect to the System Core”

Is this normal? Do I need to wait for Sooloos to transcode my music files to FLAC before I can run the FLAC backup?

Are you doing this on a Mac? As Control:Mac is no longer supported and may not function correctly, Meridian suggest you only use Control:PC.
I know you say Control:PC but that is often used as a generic term, if you are on a PC try rebooting the Core and then the PC, ensure required Sooloos processes aren’t being blocked by your firewall.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm using a PC.
I'll look at my firewall and do the reboots

Ok, if it is working correctly then starting the export should be very quick once the export destination has been set.
You will want to ensure your PC has sleep disabled and it is significantly faster if you connect it via a LAN cable than using WiFi irrespective of your potential WiFi performance.

Sometimes trying to figure out the firewall settings can be confusing and it is easier to uninstall Control:PC and then browse to the core IP address and the download it again, when you install you will be prompted to allow the required processes access through the firewall.

After erasing and reinstalling Control:PC, that did the trick. All systems go.
Thank you for the help.
