Hi all,

As a follow-up to another thread regarding converting my Sooloos files into FLAC format, I am enjoying having all of my music from my Sooloos system in my Tesla via micro SD card. Now that I am regularly updating a micro SD card with FLAC files for the car, I would like to be able to mirror onto another card and use with a portable music player.

It would be great to be able to take all of my music when I travel for work, so looking for something small with good audio quality. Any recommendations?

Thanks so much for any recommendations.

John

I saw that actually, it is cool, but thought it had built in storage, so a bit limited. I am looking for something that will support a 256GB micro SD card.

I added a 128Gb card to my Samsung Galaxy A5 'phone and use it to download and store material from TIDAL.

The 'phone can support larger cards for increased storage needs.

The sound quality is fine through headphones (MQA is supported if that is your thing) and it saves carrying another device.

Not available new any more, however, a Pono player would be a fit to your requirements; the micro SD might not have been tested beyond 128GB although the spec did say 'or higher'.

What size is your music library and what version MCU unit do you have. I've got about 100GB music (iirc around 4000 tracks) on a dedicated 128GB card and had a few cannot play track errors. These cleared after unplugging and replugging USB. Have not tried again. The same USB port is running TeslaCam but it’s a dual card setup so separate SD card. M3.

I have about 178GB of music, so looking for something that will support that size.

Ian, for the car, I use separate cards for the music and Teslacam, and thankfully no issues with track errors.

Thanks for all of the feedback so far. I am leaning towards a HiBy R5 or R3. They support microSD cards of a good size and seem to have a good user interface. I want to read some more reviews, and also look at competing products before deciding. Anyone here have an R5?
