Running 861 with DSP6000 (mains), 96/24 DSP5000 (Center) and 96/24 DSP5000's for rears. For some reason, when I either stop or change a movie, when the 861 locks onto a signal, I get a loud burst of white noise from (only) the rear speakers for a second or two (it's actually pretty jarring).

Any ideas what may be causing this?

Did you find a solution?

I just purchased a pair of DSP3200's and a 218. I've been using Roon and whenever I start or stop a track, or change volume I get a noise similar to a turntable needle touching a record.

I've tried swapping the 218 with my dealer but the problems remains. Next step is to take my speakers back to the dealer and see if they make the same noise when hooked into their system.

Finally the proud owner of a 218 and 3200's...
Will they grow up to be an 813v3 and 8000's???

A pop? Or a pop with scratchy surface noise (dirty record)? I get a digital transition pop sometimes as my gear transitions from FLAC tracks to 24/96 MQA stuff and back again.

It sounds like the first pop when you put the needle down... Same sound and same length, maybe 1/4 of a second.

The dealers 3200's, 5200SE and 7200SE don't do it...

It happens whenever an audio signal starts or stops, or when changing volume, not just when changing file type. It doesn't happen when one track rolls on to another in the same album because the audio stream is continuous.

I took my speakers to the dealer today. Their set don't make the noise, mine do. I even tried connecting 1 of mine and 1 of theirs, mine made the noise, theirs didn't They're going to contact Meridian to see if it's a known problem and whether a solution is available.

If not they will swap my speakers for a new pair.

I would be very interested if there is a solution, I use 3200 as rear speakers and they also pop (very annoying) during adverts .
This only happens using Sky.
They are fine with DVD or Bluray.

Does the G68 also click at that point. When changing DSP mode, the Meridian processors ground the outputs (on 568 and iirc 861 its done solid state, but G68 its done in a relay) and on relay based ones you may hear a click. So going from feature, to advert and vice versa, there may be a change in codec, so output is grounded. This may cause other transient effects such as popping. Worth checking, but I suspect in many cases, this will be 'normal'. I suspect some speakers will be more susceptible than others. When I use to run 5xDSP33 and a sub, some speakers popped more often than others.

I have a vague recollection of something similar with my 3200s a while back and a firmware upgrade resolved the issue.

The G68 doesn't click, the same thing used to happen when I used the 568.2.

I found this in the firmware notes. Is it relevant? Maybe not given the date. Though the noise I’m hearing does appear to be caused every time the 218 begins feeding the speakers a new signal.
