Hi all,

I currently have a pair of DSP5200.2 being run with Bluesound Node 2i and am interested to know if changing to a Meridian 218 or 210 would be an improvement or just a side move?

It must have an optical input for the TV, and also be able to have Spotify and Roon play through it.

Obviously the SpeakerLink part is a bonus.

I use a 218 with my 5200SEs. It has optical input for my TV which I pass via an old 518 to add gain and magic. You also get the IP control app to play with and it works with Roon though not Roon Ready.

The 210 adds Spotify and Bluetooth and is Roon Ready. Not sure if it has optical in. You could use both.

Why bother with Spotify as you can have TIDAL with CD and MQA with Roon. I believe there is a software upgrade for the 5200.2s so they can render MQA. Details in another thread.

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. F80

Looks as though the 210 doesn’t have a digital input, I suppose I could use the one on the 5200 as I do now, just mean switching the speaker input which is a pain.

Spotify is for the family so something they need although they could use it through the TV.

I suppose that would then bring in the MS600 also and the MS600 is better then the 218 or 210.

I use an IFI SPDIF iPurifier + Reviver for optical input into a 210 on the SL input port. It works!

Would ofcourse have been more elegant (and logical) with a native optical input on the 210 for TV use as we all do have that in most of our remote A/V zones...

You'd want the 210 since it's the latest and greatest architecture from Meridian with an app.

Can someone help, is it possible to have just an MS600 straight into some DSP5200 or would I need a core also, I'm sure I could use a 218 alone previously.

MS600 is only a very good endpoint. It still needs Roon or Sooloos to use it as a streamer, both of which will see it as an endpoint.

Thanks Bruce, that’s what I thought but Roon cannot see it currently?

You need to enable audio endpoints in Roon settings/audio for them to be visible as an audio destination.

Now, can someone tell me why my Windows 10 PC running Roon does not show up as an audio endpoint laugh

Hi Ian, it could be a firewall issue.

Regards,
Carl

All I have visible in Roon’s audio section is ...

- Connected to this phone
- Connected to core
- Networked

I give up, I can see the MS600 in Sooloos configure and its IP address and I can open the IP in internet explorer ...status shows source: SLS/Vol.65, but nothing in Roon.

Thanks Carl.

That seemed to be it. It disappeared when I reset my Windows 10 install .

All good now.
