Hi All,

I can not play any of my bookmarked Tune In radio stations this morning here in the USA.
I did a hard reboot of my entire system, but still no radio.
No problem playing the music on my MD600.
Is anyone else having this problem?

Tracked down the problem.

Checked my account list in Sooloos and found TuneIn was removed, worked fine last night.
I added TuneIn back to my accounts and signed back in.
Everything working again as before.

Strange, first time this has happened in the many years with the system... gremlins I guess.

According to their service status page they did have issues overnight.

Thank you Ratbert. Seems it was their gremlins, not my gremlins.
Always nice to keep track of those gremlins.

Will Sooloos cope with these changes?

It is also unclear to me as to the effect and purpose of these changes especially with regard to Sooloos.

Glad I still have a good old 504 connected for FM BBC radio channels especially for the cricket which sadly sold a national broadcast viewing responsibility out years ago to the highest bidder.

Testing times. The future of FM broadcasts is also unclear.

Can anybody help me understand?

How do you get the cricket on FM, Hector?

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

I don't. However this further oversight by Auntie should be rectified for the licence paying public after the loss of Tune In for BBC channels.

Cricket on the BBC has only been on FiveLiveSport for many years.

My Cricket habit is satisfied by NowTV. Pay for the first month of the season at full price, then cancel it online - stating that you can no longer afford it - and the subsequent monthly fee (3 months) drops significantly.

Thank you for the link. I was unaware of this development.

If I read the BBC blog correctly (at its end) outside the UK the Tunein service will be unaffected. Great, licence fee payers are penalised but the rest of the world is ok. But on that thought if I use a VPN to alter my location will I be able to get round this unfair nuisance? Comments from the various network experts on this forum will be welcome.

Yes, at the (considerable) penalty of not being able to access the 320kbps AAC streams.

Oh. I assume that is a restriction imposed by the BBC on any foreign IP addresses. Is that correct?

FWIW, as of iOS 13 TuneIn Radio is to be integrated into Apple Music ‘soon’.

It appears that "BBC Radio 4" is no longer working via Sooloos.

Searching TuneIn again I found a new channel called "Radio 4" which is carrying the BBC Radio 4 material but with a different logo.

Gianni, I suspect that may be Radio 4 LW.

I now have two Squeezebox Booms which we normally leave connected to mysqueezebox.com for preset-button-based radio and alarm radio. Now useless; and all because the BBC wants to "track" its listeners. They really have forgotten whom they're serving.

Hi Gianni

The main panic was getting up and running for the 14:00 Archers episode cool

I revisited the link I originally posted above and see that there a significant degree of negative feedback has appeared today.

And in standard British tradition I have submitted a strongly worded complaint via the BBC on-line feedback system.

I had to put URLs manually into my Bluesound devices last night when they disappeared.
Luckily I have the URL’s in Roon.

It won’t satisfy most on here, but if you have a Meridian 210, and a suitable mobile device, the BBC Sounds app is your friend - by choosing ‘connect via’ (Bluetooth) in settings.

BBC Sounds also connects via AirPlay, but Meridian chose not to include this feature on the 210 (!).

I found some URLs which work. Probably lousy quality, but they work.

Code:
http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbcmedia_radio1_mf_p
http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbcmedia_radio2_mf_p
http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbcmedia_radio3_mf_p
http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbcmedia_radio4fm_mf_p
http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbcmedia_radio5live_mf_p
http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbcmedia_6music_mf_p

I'm not sure if these can be used in a Sooloos context.

The responsible person at the BBC has responded to the complaints about this change.

The effect of this change is that BBC radio listeners in the UK only are prevented from listening to BBC radio via TuneIn.

The change does not affect listeners in other countries who access BBC radio via TuneIn.

Nor does it affect listeners in the UK who use TuneIn to access any other radio station from anywhere.

The reason for this change is that the BBC wanted data from TuneIn about who was listening, from where and when. Now they will not receive that data from TuneIn. Nor, ironically, will they get that data from those who listen via other web-based routes and who chose to switch off data sharing, or those who listen via FM or DAB.

Maybe the solution is, bizarrely, to listen to TuneIn via a VPN.

Isn't the key point that Kieran Clifton is missing is that some listeners prefer their data not to be collected but don't see why they should be excluded from a service they pay for, especially as those that don't pay (overseas) can continue to listen without providing data?

I just checked the TuneIn radio website which reports that both BBC Radio 4 FM and BBC Radio 4 LW are not available. They do show a Radio 4 however.

Whatever I am listening too is a BBC Radio 4 but appears to be in mono with reduced SQ manifesting as loss of bass and less than perfect treble compared with my recollection of the previous stream - but still listenable for those episodes from Ambridge
