Does anyone know if there will be any Meridian presence at the Chicago/O'Hare Axpona show (April 12-13-14)? While Meridian isn't listed as a exhibitor -is some dealer going to be set up and demoing their products ? I will be attending simply because this is a listening show and have always heard something(s) worth the trip. Basically-it restarts my hi-fi obsession each year.

Probably unwise as the baying anti MQA mob would turn up to taunt!

It's only 25 minutes for me so i'll be there. Last year I only went on sunday and that wasn't near enough time.

I will likely go this year to check everything out and fuel the fever.

Got there early Friday and was burnt out by 3:00! Overall the sound in the rooms was much better than last year.

I didn’t see any Meridian present but Kim was displaying the kii3 with the bass bins making for a very tight, fast sound. I walked up and put my hand on the top of the speaker and there was considerable vibration however, it felt like soft rubber so maybe it damps what would otherwise be noisy. Great sounding active with more drivers than I could count.

Bryston was also showing an active 3 way with all the electronics outboard giving the frontman the liberty to crap all over the ‘plate’ amplifiers other actives use. They were using their $13k DSP and 2 bryston monoblocks to drive them and if you don’t need the DSP the active xover is $3500.

Audio shark, if I’m allowed has a pretty good thread going with pics of every room. AQ for acoustique quality had a very good sounding room with affordable prices, passive tho.

Had to work the weekend - so my three day pass only got used for a couple of hours on Friday. What impressed me:

Madisound was demoing the Linkwietz LXmini again - I have owned a pair un-assembled for a couple of years - hopefully this summer? I will get the time to put them together. Amazing speakers from one of the rare geniuses of this audio era (sorely missed).

Sweet Vinyl was showing a couple of new to me units : SC-1 mini and SC-1 mini/phono which includes a RIAA phono section. Clich n pop removal that really works - without the annoying side effects / strange artifacts.

I have only previously used Soundsmith SMC carts on B+O tables - they work very well with the arms they were developed for -but been a little (OK -a LOT) curious about Peter L.'s medium compliance (22cu.) 1/2" mount IM carts -so bought a Otello (bottom of that line) - only have three evenings on it -but one reviewers description of it having the sound of a DL-103 with great tracking seems about right (and very pleasant) -run in a newer technics magnesium tonearm with a KAB fluid damper.

Enjoyed the Bryston room.

Have been going to audio shows since the late 60's and the first day if you can make it IMO is the best -the volume levels are less likely to creep into the unendurable range and the folks doing the demo's aren't hoarse and fried yet.

Added a couple of Ortofon test records to the collection and a really nice Julie London 45 rpm mono 2X album. The sales area on the first floor can be a a expensive place to visit.

Owning and enjoying Meridian DSP speakers does sorta narrow your interest in products like amps and speakers - leaves more time to concentrate on sources (certainly not a bad thing).
