Evening All

I currently have a simple setup whereby I feed my newly upgraded DSP72kSE speakers with RPi + Digione squeeze player. The system sounds sublime (to my ears) playing mostly my ripped CDs (WAV files) plus a selection of 24/96 files I have acquired over the years.

I have a 518 which I purchased years ago when I had a 500 series system and I got to thinking whether it could/should be hooked into my current setup. I must confess to never fully understanding what the 518 did even when I was using it and I'm aware it can be used in a number of different ways.

Given the complexity of the DSP speakers can I assume that the 518 is effectively obsolete?

Many thanks

I use a 518 for TV sound and DAB radio. I add 12 dB gain to Freeview TV and 3 dB gain to DAB. So I get more inputs for my 218 plus a decent sound.

I also go from 16 to 24 bit and noise shape C
Coms works a treat. I love the design too.

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. F80

I still use a 518 between a Apple Mac Mini and a G68SL, makes a noticeable difference.

Only issue you’ll have is the 24/48 limit on the 518, so no good for 96kHz material.

All the best,

Steve
