I appreciate all the help I have received. I am almost up and running. I have configured the HD621 and 861v4. I can switch in a Bluray player or switch in a squeezebox and both seem to work (5.1 and stereo). In mconfig i selected the center channel as the master. Although everything works, the volumes are slightly different (e.g. Volume numbers differ between center channel and fronts). Also, I have two red lights showing master in the center and one of the fronts. Do I need to config, the speakers a certain way? I have not hooked up the rears yet.

You should only have one master. (Red light) You need to type them so. Generally speakers are set to Auto and pressing Clear in Standby allows Controler to be decided.
No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 218 zone... (Thanks Russ) Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2 and Mini. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. My F80 is in repair...

Gwho, Prove that ONE master cable (M5 lead) runs from v4 to your master (center) speaker. From the "master comms out" of that speaker you have to distribute the com signal as you like (not the audio signal). The default way to distribute is : Run the "master comms out" to a distribution panel what you maybe have on your v4 800-SL0 card. From that SL0 card run a S5-lead/slave cable to each speaker. Check first if your physical center master speaker (the only one with red light), is also in "mconfig" the same - you see a little square in mconfig in the "speaker layout". They have to be the same, otherwise you get comm problems... Then follow the info from Chris and it will work. Robert

Do you have to type/config each speaker manually You need to set type and configure each speaker manually to tell it where it is in the system, and whether it's a Master or Slave, and what it's Controller status (Y/N/Auto) should be. Cheers George

ChrisLayerUK / RobertW / 3dit0r / Mr Meridian
Thank you for the information. I will try your suggestions this weekend to get it up and running. I am waiting on a couple of adapters to use with the custom cables that were provided with the speakers (I need a few bnc to rca adapters) so I can hook up all speakers.
Tne one thing I did notice in the Mconfig is that the SL0 card is not showing up in the Card Tab of the 861 (all other cards in my 861 are listed except the SL0. Should this be showing up or is it like the 511 which requires an external connection to parallel the slaves.

Hi,
You should be able to pick up BNC to RCA adapters from somewhere like a Radio Shack store (assuming they still exist) or from Amazon.
I can’t directly answer your question regarding the SL0 card, but it may just be a 511 box that sits in the 861, so it may be completely passive without making an electrical connection to the 861.

SL00 card has no connection to the chassis besides the screws that hold it in.it is essentially a slave patch on a plate that attaches to the chassis.

Bruce,
You called it correctly. I reconfigured the speakers to make sure they were front l/r and slave (also type 6 and auto). I believe my issue was that the SL0 was not connected to the Comms output of the 5000C. I connected that and daisy chained the front l/r speakers and it seems to be working with only the center channel as the Master (red light).
Another problem has come up:
This is really the first time I have used the 861 since I purchased it. After leaving the 861 on for a while it starts shutting itself on and off? The Meridian 861 flashes on the display and then shuts off. Seconds later it may come on again but then shut off. Anybody have any idea what this might be.

Sounds like you need to check the power supply or there could be a card causing the issue. As others here have done, re seat all cards and or remove all unused cards.

Thank you for all the help. I've tried to address the start, shutdown, and restart issue with my 861 that some suggested is related to the power supply.
I've removed and reseated all the cards in the 861. I sprayed the connectors with Deoxit during the process.
I reloaded the config to the HD621 and 861 just in case.
The power supply measures as follows: 5V output - 5.2 volts -12V - -12 volts 12V - 12.78 volts
I have read in the different threads that 5.2 volts is the recommended voltage for the 5V output. I have not read anywhere about the positive 12V output. Mine reads a little high. Is there a potentiometer to adjust this voltage? Could this cause problems. I am testing it out now to see how long it holds up but it is not starting and restarting at this time.
