I have an unusual setup scenario and wonder if anyone has a way to make it work -

I’d like to use an MC200 in a room which has no network cable runs.

The MC200 could be connected to a Mac Mini running Control:Mac, and the MM would have WiFi access, but I don’t know if this would open up possibilities or if it’s just simply impossible without network cabling to a switch?

Presumably even if the latter did work, I would have no possibility of iPad control?

Could I use a wireless bridge? Because the MC200 is core/store/endpoint in this setup, am I right in thinking it wouldn’t ever pass actual audio data over the wireless link, it would only get control and internet access?

Internet/WiFi control (iPad) -> WiFi Router -> wireless bridge -> MC200 -> coax out to legacy system

Would that work?

Couldn't you use a Homeplug / powerline plug to connect back to the network via the mains.

MC200 does not need to be connected to any network - but if it is like that, the only control is via playlist navigation using and MSR and DSP speakers.

If you want to create playlist, then plugging Control:Mac etc direct into MC200 would work, or just get a simple switch, its still a self contained network.

If you want iPad control, then you need to add a wireless access point. Again, all self contained.

If you are running self contained network, then you probably want to go fixed IP addresses, although if you are careful, you don't need to but it just keeps it simple.

Obviously a self contained network won't allow you to RIP or play internet radio.

Or just get a couple of powerline plugs, connect it to your existing network and be done with it.
