Can you please share what’s the best way to connect the Meridian DSP3200 in the rear without a cable? Any Bluetooth or WiFi adapters?

Nothing that I am aware of. As it is not an Ethernet signal, wifi will not work in the purest sense. I suppose it is possible but there would be latency to deal with. There are devices that will get the digital signal there but not the comms. I suppose using a reviver and global cache you might be able to get control over wireless but it would require a bit of programming and other components. I assume power must exist for the rears. Is it really that hard to get a catX wire back there?

Thanks Bruce. Appreciate your insights. It's mostly the aesthetics of having to run a wire across the living room.

Cat cable is pretty small. It can be put into the gap underneath the baseboard and covered with quarteround moulding on hard surface floors. With carpet you can simply stuff it under the baseboard or run flat cat cable under the carpet.

A device like this should eliminate cables for any DSP speakers.
I have no idea about sound quality though. You need to transmit your music stream via Bluetooth.

Hi,

Two main issues, but lots of others!

1) Latency of the audio signal.
Even if you did use a transmitter / receiver system to send the SPDIF signal wirelessly, then this would have a delay in the signal as it is processed through the wireless link (compared to the rest of the system). Which I guess could be compensated using the 'distances' of the speakers in 861 configuration, but would almost certainly vary from time to time.
This system would also add a lot of jitter, degrading the signal

2) Wireless Comms
We would need to be able to transmit Meridian Comms from 861 to DSP3200, so they keep their volume in sync with the rest of the system.
I guess it could be done, but there is no off the shelf solution for it.

So basically, no, there's no way of having wireless rear speakers. You will need to run a cable from the 861 to one of the rears. The two rears can then be daisy chained from one to the other to minimise cable runs from front to back of the room.

Not sure if it'll work - but if you can find a KEF 2G wireless system?
Been discontinued for a while now - but if you can get mains sockets close to the speaker location,
plus you're happy to use passive speakers...?

Old 2G link

Cheers,
Ian.

No. Powerline is network, Speakerlink is audio. The only thing in common is the cable/connectors.
