On looking at Chord’s petite Hugo TT Roon Ready DAC/Pre/Headphone amplifier and matching TToby power amplifier, I couldn’t resist the thought that Meridian could have similarly produced a matching power amplifier for their Prime.

Chord will release the Hugo TT2 this Autumn/Fall.

I think there was always plans to make more products based on Prime cases but suspect these morphed into the hide away 200 series.

Certainly the five power outlets on the Prime PSU would suggest that was a possible plan?

Would the Prime PSU output have enough power for a PowerAmp? But yes, clearly the number of outlets on Prime PSU were an indication of a larger range.

It wouldn’t be a stretch to put a Meridian 251 into a Prime housing, with conventional speaker outputs.

Even so, such a package would be ‘crippled’ by Meridian to limit USB MQA decoding to 24/192: anything higher would be reserved for their DSP SE loudspeakers.
