On looking for a particular network component, I discovered an hitherto unknown audio company to me: one that has been in existence for as long as Meridian. Their HQ even looks to be of a similar size to Meridian.

That’s where the similarity ends. Compared to Meridian, the PS Audio website is a breath of fresh air. Besides the usual information on their products, there are regular/downloadable monthly magazines, Q&A videos with the company’s founder (Paul McGowan), plus his daily posts, podcasts, ‘how to’ advice, and, monthly newsletters. They also have their own customer forum (not managed/run by a third-party).

I especially like PS Audio’s trade-in scheme for any working audio device for a new PS Audio item.

Also, they answer end-user customer telephone call/emails (reminiscent of Meridian’s past).

Don't mistake those warm fuzzy Q&A videos as anything other than marketing though. Certainly not expertise or opinion that gains much traction with me.

Such was my 25+ years of (former) Meridian brand loyalty that I didn’t look at other options.

What piqued my interest in PS Audio is their microRendu alternative: LANRover.

Maybe, but that level of marketing is sadly lacking from Meridian.

If you are considering Roon wink then rather than the MicroRendu or LANRover you might want to look at an Allo USbridge?, I have one and a MicroRendu and in listening tests I can not hear any difference, the price difference however is significant.

One of the benefits of Roon for Meridian owners who currently use Sooloos is that it allows you to consider and integrate others manufacturers equipment.
