Well I was looking to upgrade my computer speakers/monitors. I glanced over at my unused DSP33s and ... well Bob's your uncle.

They are not going through a preamp - just hooked up directly and controlled via serial. Holy freaking crap. Without processing these things are stunning.

Granted I knew that. But my main system uses 3 DSP33s as center and surround... they get overshadowed.

I agree. The DSP33s are astonishing for their size and much underrated in my view. Mind you, I think Meridian M2s are nowadays also much underrated.

+1

I've just picked up a set of 5. However I did notice they all sounded slightly different, so they are the next on my list to change the tweeters and re-cap. I am excited to see what they sound like after renovation.

I bought them as I am currently using M33s placed either side of my computer monitor and was very impressed by them. I tend to listen to them at least 8 hours every weekday.

I plan to use a pair with the 512 remote eye rather than serial, although that is also an option.

Have you matched loudness levels?

Not sure what you mean? Is that a setting in the config program

I reset them all using a reset plug and connected them directly to the output of a squeezebox. I used the same track at the same DSP volume (40) with the squeezebox set to 100%.

See G61R manual-Leveling is specifically discussed on page 29 in the speaker calibration section. I told a dealer in conversation that I had replaced tweeters all around a 5 channel setup. They were the original tweeters from speakers made at different times, 3 different models, and on in age. My main purpose was to ensure they performed identically, including loudness levels. Turns out I did not need to worry about that.

No processor involved yet, just tested them hung straight off the digital out of the squeezebox. Shouldn't sound different when doing that. It was more than just loudness. One of them sounded lacking in treble.

Also worth checking the tilt setting on the config, you can often get them sounding very, very similar doing that.

No Darling, I've had it months!
