I don’t have a UHD722, but I pass my Apple 4K through Oppo 203 and I see similar problems on my LG and I have to reboot the Apple TV to get things working properly.
Hence it might well not be a UHD722 problem...

It’s a UHD722 problem. The pink film occurs when I fire up my Home theater gear whether it's my Xbox One X, PS4, Apple TV 4K, Oppo 203. It’s a HDMI handshake issue which should not be occurring so frequently with today's processors.

Frankly, I’m at my wits end and have instructed my dealer to get a resolution from Meridian ASAP or switch out my gear for a 2018 Anthem processor that doesn’t have these issues.

I'm not seeing this problem as yet, but I am getting regular audio failure when I swap channels on my Satellite source, or change sources.
The source / channel change seems to propagate through my system & 'upsets' my Lumagen Radiance Pro, which needs a power cycle to clear the problem.
My evidence that this is UHD722 related is that it never happened with my HD621 and that's the only component that's changed - nothing else whatsoever.

As mentioned in my previous post I used to see all these reported problems but since upgrading the cables and power off all devices I don't have the problem either when I first switch on all devices from standby or when switching devices. On latest firmware now which has fixed some problems I had with Satellite Sky SD channels (no sound) and iPlayer downloads from Sky (no sound from 2 channel stereo). So all good for the moment but it's no comfort for you all I know. The big change I found was powering off all devices simultaneously and then back on after new cables were fitted.

@QuantumBob
Which is fine if you have any >HD Sources or Devices in the chain e.g. 4K, but if everything was and still is 'standard' (1920*1080) HD, there should be NO effect on functionality.
Zero.
None.

Replacing cables should not be necessary.

There is a problem with UHD722 functionality & it needs to be fixed - it's not currently acceptable as it is.

Just be sure to forward the HDMI issues to Meridian with the HDMI device chain and cabling clearly stated.

Also about "Hi-Speed" HDMI cables, not all manufacturers test every HDMI cable shipped, it's economics involved unfortunately.

Changing an integral part of the HDMI chain as the HDMI switch and keeping your old cables does not mean that the old cables will work automatically, you can hope they will but there is no guarantee if they are on the threshold.

@Rolski, the issue with changing channels on a TV-box losing audiolock after the UHD722 compared to the HD621 should really be forwarded officially to Meridian, I think you are on to something that could be done to smooth how things work the sync and audiolock. Maybe the HD621 kept it sinked or padded things differently when the a TV-box abruptly cut the LPCM stream when changing channels.

+1 when it comes to cables. Use a quality cable that is tested and certified to meet or exceed 18.2 Gbps. I recommend the Tributaries UHD cables as each one is tested before it is shipped. They are excellent quality and are very reasonably priced.

Considering the price of the unit wouldn't it have made sense for Meridian to have included one HDMI cable they had tested and approved so the customer could see it worked even if their own cables had issues. They could then purchase additional ‘Meridian approved’ cables knowing they worked, the current mess is not doing either users tempers or Meridian's reputation any good at all.

Maybe so. A good dealer should offer the cables at least at a discount to ensure a smooth transition.

I am sure you do Bruce but there are clearly purchasers who have slipped through the net, congratulations on your 4th anniversary by the way.

When the Oppo 203 came out, one of the recurring issues was people using existing cables without realizing the increased bandwidth issues of the new format. The general advice was to buy N+1 cables so that swapping out was an option, just in case you were unfortunate enough to buy a dodgy one.

In the case of the 722, M would have to throw in a couple really, no? Connection from source to 722 and 722 to display. Mind you at 2 grand a pop, probably some margin to do that!

This is all going to repeated when we get 8K pushed at us in the near future. Not looking forward to it!

Cheers
Greg
