Can anyone help me with exactly how I should connect my equipment to one another? I am totally lost!

Equipment: 586 DVD, 504 FM Tuner, 565 Digital Sound Processor, 562v Multimedia controller A/D/S amp and Linn Keilidh (How the hell do you pronounce, "Keilidh") Speakers.

Also I have the 5500C, and 5500 L and R and another center on the way. I'm interested in what you guys recommend as my next two speakers. DSP33, 5200, 7200?

Please help,
Captain Christopher

Hi,

Welcome to the forums.

As a quick and brief response, the first thing to say would be to read the manuals _ all on Duncan's Meridian Info at the top of the page.

From your list:

1. The 504 needs an analogue (stereo cables) connection to the analogue input on ...... (see 4 & 5 below)
2. The 586 needs a digital (single) connection to the digital input on..... (see 4 & 5 below)
3. The 565 processor has only a limited number of inputs.
4. If you only have the 504 & 586 you can probably connect both to the 565.
5. However, the 562V provides additional inputs for the 565, so you can connect the 562V to the 565 (analogue and digital connections) and connect the 504 and 586 to the 562V. You need to make sure, that the inputs on the 562V are 'assigned' to the two source components.
6. You'll also need to make communication (comms) connections using the appropriate leads _ daisy chain comms leads 565 > 562V > 504 > 586.
7. Meridian speakers can be connected via Meridian M and S leads. These carry comms (on a DIN connector) and digital audio on a phono connector (L&R speakers are on the 1-2 digital output on the 565).

8. Not sure about the ADS power(?) amp or the Linn speakers. If you want to use the Linn speakers you'll need a power amp (Meridian power amps are in the speakers) and need to connect the appropriate analogue outputs (e.g. on the 565) to the power amp.

Hope that get's you going in the right direction.

Brian

You don't need the 562

504 analog RCA to 565
586 SPDIF to 565

565 to DSPs using Master and Slave cables for front left, center and right DSPs
565 to power amp and power amp to Keilidh speakers for rears.
