Now I have just got a 271 and getting all configured with legacy DSPs. 3x 5500s 6x DSP33s and 2 subs.

Anyway I got the ceiling DSP33 speakers installed in loft hanging from beam with the Omni 75 bracket firing through ceiling. Now originally they had been set to system 2, so I reset with the R DIN plug. Now noticed last night volume on this channel not responding to remote. So thought I would check that the system address had been reset to 1. Using the legacy config program on a old XPSReaderPro laptop.

Initially the first DSP33 program could not fetch. Kept getting comm errors. Then tried disconecting the S-leads reset power a couple of times and eventually fetched detail. Was sys address 1.

Tried on scond but could not fetch. Concerned I might mess up firmware so stopped, reverted to changing the S-lead connection to the ceiling speakers to a different AC12, actually the one with the return S-lead from the front 5500s. Could do this as S-lead to ceiling was BNC connector. Now speakers respond to volume changes.

Should I investigate further config comms issue or just take the end result? Anyone else had similar experience. Wondering if comms issue just faulty comms lead / lack of remote response fixed by multiple resets.

Comments appreciated,
Kevin

I have two DSP33’s that do not respond to volume change through AC12. I tried many, many options. Than I tried to connect an iTach to the serial port of the DSP33. That works. So fhat is the way I solved my problem.

I have a pair of DSP33s and had your problem. The very weird solution was to put the comms from the AC12 into the output comms socket of the first speaker. Actually I may have this wrong (I'm not using them currently). It may be just for the second. Anyway, play around with using the output socket of one of the speakers as an input - it certainly got mine working and I know others have found the same thing.

OK. I have now checked what works. Put the Comms lead (in my case from a Control:10 but also works from an AC12 as I did this previously) into the output of the Left speaker and then take a Comms lead from the Comms in on the Left to the Comms in on the Right. Works perfectly!!

Did you try the bizarre comms connection for DSP33s? Did it work for you?

Mine worked when I put the slave output on BNC in same AC12 as return S-lead into DIN slave of same AC12.

Will look as mod though as still have one more slave to connect. Other option perhaps is to have another 511 so all slave comms is outside AC12s although that feels wrong.

Anyone else get the fetch issue on the legacy config program?

Works so tempted to leave alone!

Kevin
