What is the SD image based on?

Would you be prepared to make a backup zip of the image available as a download for others to benefit from?

I don't think that will work, I think it is built based on the mac of the pi etc.

It is simply "dietpi" put on a card, then when you plug it in it installs.

You can then choose options to install, such as Roon Endpoint, Airplay etc.

I had hoped to glean how to get AirPlay working from you. I wasted half an afternoon last year with dietpi trying to configure it for airplay to no avail.

Doubt its mac specific - I regularly move Pi SD images between devices and never had an issue. Once I configure am SD card, I always make a zipped image backup for when the SD card dies. One of the things that made me interested in DietPi was its ability not to write to SD and thus reduce chances of SD corruption when Pi is not shut down nicely.

But understand if you cannot help out though.

Hey Ian,

Shoot me a PM if you're still stuck with Airplay on DietPi and I'll help you get it set up / troubleshoot if you wish.

It is really easy.

Were you using Dietpi?

Once you install it and let the system boot you then get options to set up the pi, so USB DAC, allo digi, iq digi+, static or dynamic IP, name of the Pi on the network (ie lounge, kitchen etc).

You also get dietpi_software, in here you can choose what software you want to install.
So Roon, Airplay etc. etc.

Yeah you can zip up your image, once installed and set up, problem is, it sets it up knowing what mac address the dietpi is, so if you do have a card error you can use that image to install on the same Pi but not onto another one.

But main thing is you use Dietpi, it makes life much easier.
