+1 for Wind River. I saw it on the plane and it still had strong emotional impact.

Cheers, Ian

+1 for Wind River. Also worth checking out are the other two films in the Taylor Sheridan American Crime Trilogy, Sicario and, Hell and High Water.

Thanks, Edd

A tremendous film. To say "a wonderful love story, albeit an unorthodox one" might make it sound dull, but it doesn't drag for a second, even at its almost-3hr run time.

I haven't seen this yet _M_ but based on the brief description on IMDb, I think you might enjoy The Turin Horse.

Slow but somehow utterly mesmerising.

The Handmaiden; a Korean masterpiece. Beautiful, twisty, sophisticated.

Also, from recent viewings:

Dunkirk. Magnificent. I know it sounds odd but it hardly feels like a war film at times; it's so poetic. And the score is amazing; it adds a real layer of tension that underscores the whole thing. Wonderful visuals.

Three Billboards... Brilliantly written & acted. About as good as film gets, really.

Hacksaw Ridge: Amazing audio & worthy of all the plaudits rained upon it.

Beasts Of The Southern Wild: Quirky, left-field, brilliant.

We also re-watched Midnight Cowboy recently. I hadn't seen it for a decade or more & what a great film that is. Plus, the way that "Everybody's Talkin' " gets used is amazing; it reminded me of the way that The Sound Of Silence gets used in The Graduate, and to equally wonderful effect. Plus the acting is absolutely top drawer. Magic.

+1 on 3 billboards Marcus. One of the best I've seen in years, just great performances across the board.

One not to see in company.... lion. I was blubbering like a child by the end, fantastic story and great reproduction.
