Hi,

I plan to run 218 as end point instead of MC200. As non-MQA setup (I need my RC and subs...), but I can`t find 218 in MCP. I guess I missed something here?

Is a simple Cat cable from SpeakerLink Out (slave) on the 218 to SpeakerLink In on the G65 correct?

Cheers,
Frode

There was something with a delay for the front speakers. Larger distance from listening point to compensate the extra cable/processing step. Need to look it up though.

I could not find the 218 on the MCP. I used DSP3100’s as a replacement to get the digital input. You may need to use DSP3300’s for SpeakerLink.

I have a legacy system with analogue main L&R so a bit different, (and I’m not familiar with using SpeakerLink so I haven’t tested what I am suggesting), but I would look to have the 218 down stream of your G65. This will allow you to get MQA out of your main L&R SE speakers.

Run digital out (L&R), from the G65 to digital in on the 218.
Dinn comms to SpeakerLink comms crossover from the G65 to the 218.
SpeakerLlink out from the 218 to your 7200’s
Speakerlink out from the G65 to the centre and rears. G65 to the sub.
Ethernet into the 218.

I have the equivalent of this in a my legacy system and the 218 fits in great. Volume control is synchronised throughout the system. I get MQA, HT and run subs. Even Trifield sounds great.

I use the Meridian phone app, remote and G68 front panel to swap inputs on the 218. (I have a turn table plugged into it too).

Cheers,
Andrew

Hi,

The 218 is configurable via IP, and is a different 'type' of product from earlier G-series equipment, so you won't find it on the Configuration Program.

I'm sure you can use the 218 as you're suggesting but most people have used it as Andrew has described, with the 218 between the processor and the speakers, to allow MQA playback. You could do the same and retain your current MC200 configuration for surround, RC and sub and add the 218 (between the G65 and speakers) for MQA. You would set up the 218, so that it only has 2 sources _ the network port (for Roon/Sooloos with MQA), with everything else (i.e. from the G65) via the SL input.

Given that you have SE rear channels (and the fact that MQA is currently 2-channel only), you could replace them with something else (M6 or DSP3300) in your surround system and use the 218 with the SE speakers in another zone for MQA. If you don't need/want MQA, then the 218 seems a bit much when an MS200 (or second hand MS600) would do the job quite well _ just my opinion.

Thanks all,

I have been rethinking my setup, now implementing 218 for MQA (when I have the option to check it out MQA).

The option of takeing the 52`s out have crossed my mind. I feel they are a bit overkill for my quite small room.

Cheers,
Frode
