Hello!

Just bought the 218 and AC12 combo to get MQA to my DSP’s. Connection is like this:
C15 SpeakerLink ➡️ 218 ➡️ SpeakerLink master out ➡️ AC12`➡️ Digital and Comms master out ➡️ Master speaker with M5 ➡️ Master speaker ➡️ Slave with S5.

When playing MQA material, MQA lights up on 218, display on speaker says MHR 96 or 88. If no music is playing the display says DATA 96 or 88. When streaming 44/16 bit display says MHR 88.

Is this correct or should I get MQA in the display when playing MQA?

PS. MHR display only shows up on master speaker, slave shows only SLS or nothing.

The 6ks play up to 88/96k PCM or MHR-encrypted PCM. They have no concept of MQA and will not unfold MQA to higher original sample rates (though of course the 6k's DACs will perform generic up-sampling internally).

The 218 will decode folded MQA and output 88/96k to the AC12. And by default the 218 will up-sample 44/48k material to 88/96k.

So yes, what you are seeing is correct. I imagine that it sounds rather nice smile

Why "C15 SpeakerLink ➡️ 218 ➡️ SpeakerLink master out" ?

Surely you want "C15 ➡️ Network ➡️ 218 ➡️ SpeakerLink master out" and use the 218 as a Sooloos zone?

It won't make any difference to what you hear, but 218 originated audio I am sure will be better than C15 originated audio.

VK thanks!
Yes it sounds very nice 👍. Super happy with the 218 combo. 😀

Ian!
I’m playing with 218 as the Sooloos zone so I guess the SpeakerlLnk is passive.
Does it matter if it’s there? Now I know where it is 😜
