Hello

I recently heard an Audiocom modified Oppo 205 streaming 2 channel and compared it to a £13000 DAC and I could hear no difference in performance, that in itself is impressive but when you factor in it is a Roon endpoint, decodes full MQA, plays SACD, BD, DVD and CD’s it becomes even better value, then there is the price, £13,0000 against Oppo £3,799 which makes it look like something of a bargain!
Seems the audio playing field is changing with products from Oppo and Allo and IQaudio for example as discussed by gizzE in a recent post.

I don’t believe the 205 allows ripping of SACDs.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

I didn't get a chance to try the analogue output, the most noticeable differece for digitial output feed the 861 for me was the low noise floor, I can play much louder with my legacy DSP speaker now.

Albert

I listened to a 205 signature using analogue and compared it to a £13000 DAC and there was no difference to my ears.

Do the Audicom mods include the features of the Vanity board to improve the digital output.

Or would you still need the Vanity board in conjunction with these mods?

Thanks
Greg

Albert

Have you compared the Audiocom mooded player to a standard one. What do you think the big gains are?
My main interest is the playback performance of sacd and Bluray music discs. I dont use the analogue outputs at all so that is of no interest.

Thanks
Greg

Me too don't use the analogue output, the femto clock board improves all outputs including coax and HDMI as per Mark told me.

I don't have golden ears, to me the most obvious different (improvement) now is I can play much louder than before sometimes I play at 87, means lower noise floor and distortion I assume. Also the picture looks more smooth and clear.
