I think it is a bit outdated, that wall of girls at the end is just cringeworthy, but the grid girls are happy doing it so no problem there. The company just feels it is time to move on in this era, so fair enough.

What I do have a problem with is Beverly Turner saying it is just exploits the women and shows them in a way for men to look at, where as all her photo shoots and modelling over the years have never been about that?

I find this whole thread depressing.

Not at all. She leveraged the only assets at her disposal that were highly valued in a patriarchal system in order to access a position where her true talents are now recognised and justly rewarded. She is an exploited victim who, now that she has a platform from which to do so, only wishes to save others from enduring fates of similar salacious indignity.

or

In this age of needing to maintain the right sort of profile on social media, one-upmanship in virtue signalling (on whatever the latest bandwagon of contrived outrage happens to be) might require a little flexibility when it comes to hypocrisy. If there's a small chance that the gaze of the witchfinder general might shift in your direction, you can't rely on affirmations of innocence or contrition being enough, you need to get ahead of the accusations by displaying the fiery zeal of a true believer and join in against whomever the finger now happens to be pointing. She (or her agent) probably now feels it advantageous to curate her social profile towards being perceived as amongst those leading from the front on this issue rather than as a previously willing and complicit participant in the problem.

Actually, I have no idea. I didn't even know who she was until you so kindly posted an image of her. So anyway, I really just wanted to thank you for that.

Neither did I know of her.

Leading from the front is a great asset, wish more of our politicians did so, instead of beating their own breasts in the same old way.

Is she a formula one driver? Whoodda thunk it?

Latest nonsense is removing art from public display in Manchester. What next? Hijabs for all or blindfolds for the many?

Well BT seems to be getting everywhere at the moment - presumably she is trying to relaunch her career after motherhood.

Still bringing up exploitation in motorsport

And getting on the NHS bandwagon - apparently going into hospital is not about just having a healthy baby, but you expect to have a gilt edge experience too.

Presumably someone else chose her outfit because of course she would want to resurrect her career based upon her journalistic and presentation skills alone. Or maybe someone just didn't dare tell her that those were not her talent and they decided that she needed to try and inject a bit of glamour too.

You know what, there is as much flesh in that photo as some of the grid girls show and often the grid girls are showing significantly less (and some times a bit more...)

I have nothing against their decision, this is the statement...
Quote:
”Over the last year we have looked at a number of areas which we felt needed updating so as to be more in tune with our vision for this great sport," said Sean Bratches, Managing Director, Commercial Operations at Formula 1.

"While the practice of employing grid girls has been a staple of Formula 1 Grands Prix for decades, we feel this custom does not resonate with our brand values and clearly is at odds with modern day societal norms. We don’t believe the practice is appropriate or relevant to Formula 1 and its fans, old and new, across the world.
The problem is the judgemental nature of 'women' against those that do not find it a problem.
Like a caller said on LBC "Yes I understand that many of these girls are annoyed as they no longer have a job, but they have to take a hit for those of us who don't feel what they do is appropriate."

Freedom of choice should be exactly that, allowing people to chose what they want to be, do or say. However we are living in a time when we are being told what we must say, do and think by a very vocal minority, and that is not right.

The Jordan Peterson interview is a perfect example of how a certain culture is trying to skew everything people say to make it a negative. Most people are genuinely nice people, but telling them they must change their vocabulary to 'not offend' is... quite frankly, offensive.

We have a generation of brain washed morons who are now at the age where they are going to cause a real divide and cause the issues they so stupidly think they are trying to stop.

A minority will always shout loudest, but they are generally shouting about nothing at all, they are preaching to those who don't need to be preached to, luckily the minority gets smaller and smaller as many in the group realise how ridiculous they are being. You get a group who all hear nothing but their own preachings all their life and suddenly something is done or said and some question it, more often than not because they are so vocal they kick those that question it out of the group, this happens more and more until you are left with just one or two shouting loudly and everyone else looks in thinking "You're nuts!".
