Thanks for confirming that vMSR works with DSP5K's Ian, I used an serial cable I had here - I'll check the pins are wired as a null modem cable, I must admit I dug out a raft of serial cables and used the only one I had with two male ends without checking the pins.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers,
Ben

Hello Ian

Would this work as well?

WiFi to Serial

Save a bit of cabling.

Thanks

Neil

Hi Neil,

Yes the WF2SL does work with vMSR, but isn't the recommended Global Cache Device for two reasons:

1) It's wireless, and by the nature of wireless, less robust.
2) The WF2SL needs to be configured onto your network before use, Wi-Fi password etc.
. . So it's not as 'plug and play' as the IP2SL, which requires no setup at all.

Cheers,

Rick

Yes vMSR works with DSP5KC which is my controller, the only problem I had was the iTach IP2SL box needed to be manually set to a baud rate of 2400.

I downloaded iHelp, double click on the iTachIP2SL box which opens your browser with the iTach Configuration page.

The DSP5K RS232 pdf link was broken on Meridian's site so I just searched for the PDF which found it lurking in a corner and that showed that the old speakers needed a slower baud rate.

I've left Managed Comms off as that's what the vMSR website says for 500 series and DSP speakers.

I may try making another box the controller, either the 565 or the 598 as there's no control of DSP etc. from the D5KC.

Anyway, it's working smile
