Hi,

I am adding a 218 between my G68 and analogue speakers. I could not find a 218 in the config program so I called it a digital speaker to use its DAC instead of the G68’s.

I have a DIN to SpeakerLink for comms and it seems to work ok.
I am getting the signal from the 218 to the analogue speakers when watching movies or listening to CD’s.

Problem is when I try to access IP control. It finds the 218 and it’s details but will not access the control panel. Keeps coming up with check network connection. Network is fine and I have tried accessing it using different devices.

The 218 IP control was working when I first got the unit. Any help appreciated.
Happy holidays everyone and all the best for 2018.

Cheers,
Andrew

I assume you have the latest version of the config program?

Hello Andrew,

Find out the IP address of the 218 with your IP searcher and then make it permanent.
From the Apple or other store ... install the "IP control" app.

So you can read the manual, change parameters and use it as a remote control with your tablet/phone.
In Mconfig just take a Sooloos source, there is no 218 afik yet.

According to Meridian I have the latest Mconfig program. Should there be a 218 there? I can’t see it. Will Mconfig allow me to put the 218 behind the G68?

Splashed out on a reputable network program and it is not finding the 218.

When I plug the laptop into the ethernet and do a speed test I get 6 Mb/sec
The MS200’s are picked up fine and work no probs.

Is there a way to re-set the 218?

Thanks,

A bit more info...

This may be a bit obvious, when the 218 is not plugged in to the network the Meridian IP control program does not find it. When the 218 is connected the program finds it and identifies it with serial number and network address but comes up with a connection failed message when I try to connect. When entering network address directly into web browser, “server not found” message appears.

When connected the left light at the network connection glows orange and the right light flashes green.

I have tried different LAN access points and attempted to connect using different devices.

Have I corrupted it by calling it a 3200 in my config setup?

Are there plans to include a 218 in the config program?

Has anyone had any joy having a 218 between their legacy processor and analogue speakers.

As a DAC it works fine for digital signal from the G68, just wanting to get MQA streaming happening.

Cheers,
Andrew

Does your 218 show the latest firmware? If not, you need the Sooloos Config (not MConfig) program running on a PC on the same network to update it.

Roon (ROCK NUC with internal SSD storage)
Meridian 218, DSP3200.
Lindemann Musicbook / Lyngdorf SDA-2400, PMC Wafer 1 (shared with Marantz SR7011 7.1 system).
Testing Bluesound Node 2 and Auralic Aries Mini with above.
Explorer 2.

Thanks JobSeeker,

Downloaded the Sooloos Config program. (Would not run on Windows 10)? Installed it on XP and it found nothing...

So far,

Meridian IP control finds and identifies the 218 with serial number and IP address but will not log on.

IP Scanner finds one of my MS200's only, as does Roon.

I can access the same MS200 status by typing its address into a browser.

I've noticed that on the the MS200 status page, the static ethernet address is the same as the 218 IP address?

I have absolutely no idea when it comes to IT but I reckon I have some kind if IP conflict.

I have downloaded and ran the wireshark program and it is finding errors but I don't know how to resolve them.

Would there be someone out there that is good with resolving network conflicts that could PM me to organise a skype session. I'm in Australia but will get up anytime for help sort this out.

Thanks,

Andrew

IP conflict is bad. When you log into the MS200 is it fixed IP or DHCP?

If you switch off the MS200 entirely and reboot the router and 218 can you access it? What IP protocol does that show?

With the MS200 off can you now use the Sooloos Config programme to update the 218?

By the way, the Sooloos Config program does run on Windows 10, it may be a firewall issue on your PC.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

Did you run the Sooloos config installer as Admin, eg right click on the installer and select run as admin?

The question as dpstjp said is are you using static or DHCP for your IP address? IIRC Meridian populate the static IP fields by default even if you are using DHCP. Can you post a screenshot of the MS200 and 218 config pages?

Thanks Guys,

Switched off both MS200's and 218. Rebooted router with same result.

Meridian IP control finds and identifies the 218 with model, serial number and IP address but won't connect. Comes up with a connection failed message.

Not having any joy with Sooloos config. I can't get it to run in windows 10. Keeps crashing. Have tried uninstalling and re-installing with all firewalls off. In XP it starts up but is just a blank screen. I've tried right click/double click to get admin rights but I'm not given the option.

The MS200 that is working has DHCP. (And funnily enough the static ethernet address on it's status page is the same as the 218)? Which reminds me, the second MS200 was working until I clicked static IP on it's status page. When I did that the browser shut down and I could not log on to it's status page after that. The 218 problem was happening before I did this.

Have tried adding screenshots but I don't have a website? Do I need one?

It looks like for starters that I need to get Sooloos config running.

I'll give Super Geek a call after the weekend to help with the IP conflicts.

The static IP address you have assigned is on a different network therefore you are now unable to connect to your MS200, Meridian do not provide a method of resetting it so you will need to use Sooloos config to identify its IP address, a C10 or C15 would also identify it and you may be able to see it via your router logs?

Once you have the IP address you will need to plug a laptop directly into the MS200 using a standard LAN cable, reconfigure the laptop to be on the same subnet as the MS200 and you should then be able to access it by browsing to its IP address, then change it back to DHCP at which point you will lose the web page, then reconfigure your PC back to DHCP and you should be back where you started before you clicked on fixed IP.

Going forward if you don’t plan to use a fixed IP address then I would blank out the fields on the config screen this will avoid accidental setting.

Have you tried turning off/disconnecting MS200 and just trying with 218?

Double check by rebooting your IP control device, switches and router but shouldnt strictly be necessary as LAN routing is done by MAC address not IP address so it will at least mean the any rogue IP to MAC address mapping is flushed from the system.

That will tell you if IP conflicts is the problem.

Hi Ian,

Disconnected and turned off the MS200's. Rebooted router and switch and my iPhone. Also installed IP control on another iPad.

Same result. Discovers the 218 but gets a failed connection message.

Also, worked out why I am having trouble getting Sooloos configure program up and running on windows 10.

My operating system is X64 and the Sooloos config program is X32.

I've got to hunt down another laptop.

Thanks with all of your help. Once I get Sooloos config running I'll try and follow Ratbergs advice.

Regards,
Andrew

X64 Windows can run X32 programs (I run Sooloos Configuration on Windows 10 64bit without issue).

Much more likely is that you need to enable .NET 3.5 services on Windows (some OEMs default these to disabled).

Thanks Carl,

Checked and do have 3.5 running. Must be something else. Good to know that it will be able to run. Probably just an unhealthy pc.

Good news!

Found someone to bring a laptop over and got the Sooloos config program up and running. Found the missing 218 and MS200 and changed their IP addresses from static to DHCP.

They are both up and running and sound great. Pretty chuffed to have the 218 integrated into my G68/analogue system and having the blue light on when playing MQA directly into my mono’s.

My dodgy PC has now died completely and won’t boot but all is very good in my musical world.

Thanks to everyone for their help, much appreciated!

Cheers,
Andrew

So can we conclude that the issue was incorrect fixed IP addresses?
