The pessimist in me thought we might not see any more future releases of Sooloos software (wasn’t sure if they still had the necessary in-house software skills), but then up pops a new version of the Sooloos iPad app yesterday 2.107.

Gives me something to play with this morning.

Did the app previously work with iOS 11? Does it now?

Yes to both.

The new app adds remote source selection and system power down amongst other additions.

Wow that's taken it time coming ... I had it on my C15, but then Meridian removed it for some reason.

Glad it's on the iPad app now.

I'm really happy that there is an increase in the native resolution of the app so fonts are crisper, more title text is displayed and album covers at the right resolution look much better. I find the app is running faster and is more stable.

The focus option on MQA rewards all the manual additions of MQA albums from Tidal too.

Can you confirm that you can filter/focus on Tidal MQA not just local MQA?

Okay, I give up. Where's the "off" button in the iPad app?

The off button is within the zones menu, at the top right of your screen. Select a zone and in the expanding menu there’s the button.

And no, focussing on MQA quality will not select Tidal MQA albums.

Yup it doesn't focus on Tidal MQA albums but it seems to be adding those automatically to my library with an MQA tag, so selecting that tag in the app gives a list of the albums by artist.

Sooloos may not be dead yet but in my set-up it is bering relegated from the two channel room to just feeding the whole house set-up. I have sold by 808v6 and moved on to dCS now that MQA will be implemented shortly. Over the past 9 months I found myself using Roon more and more each week. I would occasionally fire up Sooloos but as I moved more and more towards Tidal I found Roon interface with Tidal much easier to use.

I may pick up a 218 so that I can continue to have an alternative to Roon in the 2-channel room but I am in no hurry.

Am I right in thinking we’ve lost the ability to create sets in the new version?

You can still create sets. Click on the top right Home icon, then choose Select & Edit Mode.
