For the first time I have a green light on the MQA light, on my Prime when playing MQA. Other albums illuminate the blue light as usual.

Can't find anything to explain it, and Roon says MQA 96K.

Anyone else get his?

Thanks,

Richard

I think t means that it is MQA but not authenticated. So quality but not providence.

218 lights green too, so consistent.

Ears still say sounds great.

More to discover.

My understanding is the MQA green light means it can decode/render as MQA, but the master audio file has not been Studio Authenticated, which is verified by the blue light.

In other words, the MQA production team was not working with the studio engineer relative to info regarding the ADC used during the original recording etc. when they encoded the MQA remaster.

An MQA with a blue light indicates the best filter parameters were used to encode as MQA based on accurate studio info on the gear used during recording, hence the term "Studio Authentication".

Just taken delivery of my Prime Amp and have a query over the MQA light. It only appears to glow white when playing MQA material yet my Explorer2 switches between blue (Studio) and Green. The latest datasheet suggests the Prime should be able to glow blue but maybe I have an early model when they hadn't updated the LED? Anyway I just wanted to check whether this was normal behaviour. I guess I won't be able to tell when I'm getting an authenticated Master or not?

If someone can guide me to Tidal tracks which they are getting a green and blue light from I can test for sure, but my random selections from the Masters selection does not affect the colour of the light so far. Sounds good which is all that should matter but want to ensure I am getting every last shred of performance from the amp.

Thanks,
Simon

You could try downloading the 2L MQA samples

Does the firmware need to be updated?

Or the Tidal settings changed?

I'm on firmware version v17.18 and have Tidal set to pass through MQA in exclusive mode. I'm pretty sure I have Tidal setup right as when I swap in my Explorer2 I'm getting the blue light so Tidal is sending the correct stream through USB.

In my sound settings I have no sound scheme and have disabled all enhancements in the Prime properties.

No worries, my dealer cleared it up. The coloured MQA lights aren’t supported. If ever I’m desperate to find out the flavour I can just plug my Explorer2 in.

Back to enjoying the music and anticipating the impact of the backlogged PSU smile. Another month to wait for that - seems they prioritised the production of the HD722 which I suspect has a much higher profit margin right now :0!

Correction. It appears I have an early model of the Prime that does not have the capability to display what flavour of MQA I am receiving. Something I hope to resolve asap as I got used to the warm fuzzy feeling of having a blue light displayed on my explorer gave! Call me crazy but it does add something to know you are playing a studio version and hearing the best the technology has to offer.
