Foz,

Thanks for answering the Oz price question.

Love that A$1 discount to prevent a A$1,500 price !

Cheers,

Steve M

An update from Meridian
Quote:
Thank you for your enquiry regarding the availability of the new 218 Zone Controller. We are aware that it has taken somewhat longer than we had hoped and indeed predicted to get the product launched and into the hands and systems of our loyal customers.

I understand that the first shipments of the 218 have been leaving Meridian in the last day or so. The initial numbers are sadly slightly limited in comparison to the significant number on order so there will be sometime before we have been able to fulfil all of the orders that have been placed.

We are shipping orders to our dealers in the order that they were placed so it is quite difficult to predict when you will actually receive yours. I will be in the office tomorrow and will get an update on how things are progressing.

I am really sorry that this has taken longer than expected but please let me assure you that this is a very significant product for Meridian and we are all working hard to get orders fulfilled as a highest priority.

So are these really all made in the U.K? Or is it like the US, where we "build" all Mercedes SUVs "except the G Wagon", but forget to mention that it's only final assembly and all the major components come from abroad?

Primary: MD600, MS200 (SpeakerLink to AES), Trinnov ST-2, Ayre V6-xe, Salk SS8 3x LRC.
Secondary: MC600 (whole house).

Zone 2-6 (Awaiting assignment).

Sorry if this has already been commented on upthread ...

Looking at the back of the 218 - is the single digital input a 3.5mm jack?

You probably want to look back to posts around 15 March and make your own mind up. I think Rick had a definitive answer but I think those posts were all made before the production run so who knows.

That was a photoshop error. It is in fact a RCA jack on the production version.

I'm not convinced.
The spec sheet refers to RCA Digital output, but only Digital Input with no reference to RCA, all the images confirm it appears to be 3.5mm jack.

If this is wrong then wouldn't say much for M's product documentation, it's not as though they haven't had enough time to get it right!

RCA is not exactly a 75ohm connector but 3.5mm jack - really?

I suppose Toslink is a better input these days with signals reclocked/de-jittered internally and you get galvo isolation.

It's coaxial cinch and toslink optical.

My 218 arrived on Friday. The digital input directly above the toslink input is an RCA plug.
