It's a soldered fuse and not simple but yes, that seems to be it.
Chris JC on this forum will do it for you.

Hi Richard, I didn't I'm afraid as I can no longer post them here via my iPad.
The technology says "No".

The Meridian technical bulletins are very clear though and we're all I needed.
Are you contemplating the job?

If so, be advised that the covers are stuck with a soft mastic as well as the screws and need gentle easing off. The speaker grills have double sided stickers and so require equal care.

The power supply is very tight in the multi pin connecter and should be eased off with care.

I found one wire crushed on the short loom from the power supply. This I cut and repaired making certain I didn't crush it again on re assembly.

The screw holding the component on the end of said loom has a special Top Hat type insulating washer (Like on old fashioned car ignition points).

A decent Soldering iron is required with a nice tip.

PM to discuss more detail if you wish. Chris 😀

Thankfully not needing to do this yet but from your description not sure I'm wanting to either. Well done to you!

I'll reopen a old thread to try and keep the knowledge base in one place.

My F80 seems to have just died. All controls and lights appear to work as normal, but there's no sound. Yes I have tried turning it up. wink

Any thoughts on where to start troubleshooting?

Have you looked at settings, headphone mute? If phones or a sub are plugged in.

Chris, you beauty.

It was muted. I've no idea how it got muted as there's no mute button I know of on the unit and it was playing fine a couple of days ago.

Pretty stupid not to show "Mute" on the display to show what's going on.

By the way there are no headphones or sub plugged in, so it wasn't automatic.

Thank you.

Tap the volume knob and it mutes. Easily done just by nudging a newspaper against it.

How do I know this you ask? ...

Now if I could only get mine to work at all... ahh well...

Don't feel too bad, due to the stability of the African electricity supply I've now fried three AD88's... frown

I wish they were just muted!
