That review predates Roon's existence.

818v3 works perfectly with Roon.

And one more question: What are the disadvantages of the 818v3, except for the price?
Is it up to date and in what way not?
Thank you!

See this thread which has some comments on the ID41 card, which the 818v3 uses for Sooloos (or Roon) streaming.

The main shortcomings at the moment are "the inability of the ID41 to accept 4x rate audio or DSD"

Well (IMHO) it has too few optical inputs and arguably too many analogue inputs (a legacy of err legacy cards I suppose).

Many here wish for room correction.

I think a straight-through cinema/theatre option would be very useful.

Otherwise, based on my experience with the magnificent 818v2, it should be an aural no-brainer if funds are available.

Wonderful perfect quadraphonic sound with distortion levels so low as to make a brave man weep smile

The USB input accepts DSD. I am not sure about 4X rate audio.

If it helps, I'm using an 818v2 with Roon without any issues whatsoever. Roon immediately sees the device on the network without needing to configure anything (along with some B&W Airplay speakers dotted around). I have no reason to doubt it will be exactly the same with the 818v3.

I just added Roon to my set up yesterday and it saw the 818v6 straight away and I was playing music within minutes.

Is Roon still sending 96kHz max to the ID41 in 818v3?

Let's hope the new DAC can do a little better...

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.
