A pair of m3s just sold on fleabay, they had one of the program plugs installed.

Anyone here buy them?

Are they likely to be the same?

Hi,

M3 plugs are different and account for stand mounting or shelf mounting and are specific to M3's

So, the yellow plug:

Are these good enough for someone to make one?

This is great, we are nearly there. To make a replacement we need to know the circuit inside the plug and how it is wired. From the photos the circuit is a simple filter with two components. (D'oh moment). Now we need the values of the components.

1. Resistor - from your photo we now have the info. (The resistor is the brown cylinder with the coloured bands). From your second photo, the resistor is 39 KOhm, 5%. (Orange/White/Orange with a gold 5% tolerance band.)

2. Capacitor - we need a clear view of the writing on the capacitor to know its value. (The capacitor is the glass component with foil inside.)

3. Wiring - yes we now have most of the info. It is a DIN 5-pin 45 degrees/180 degree male plug (DIN 41524 - the standard audio connector from the 1980s). From your photo, pins 1 and 3 are floating, pin 2 (top centre) is wired to the shield, and pins 4 and 5 are connected via the RC network. What I can't see clearly from the picture is whether pin 2 (top centre) is also wired to pin 5 (the resistor).

Need two more high res photos, please.

A. Showing all the writing on the capacitor

B. Showing all the pins from the component side so we can see if any pins are wired together.

Thanks

That might be all the pics we get - I asked the person selling the M10s on eBay currently, if he would sell the plugs separately, and he said he'd send me pics instead. He went dark after those photos.

Nice guy to make the effort though.

I think it's enough, with a bit of mental effort. The plugs are to shape the room response (frequency) and we now know from the photos they are implemented as a simple RC network.

It's a long time since I last did this, but a few minutes with Horowitz and Hill should be enough to work out what the circuit must be.

Prod me if I don't post an answer in the next few days ...

Hi,

I'm a new hitchhiker with a M10 ... smirk

... and for shure, I'm looking for the program plugs.

My Idea: if someone is able to lend the three different plugs to me, I will produce 8-10 pairs (or more, if needed) of them all and offer them here to the M10 owners.

To the one, that owns the plugs: please think about it, You would help the rest of half mankind.. cool

Regards
Banix

Hi Everyone,

Been out of the loop for a while, I have a set of the program plugs of the M10's as discussed in a post last year, if someone wants to replicate them please advise.

I have tried high resolution photo's but close to impossible, it may be wiser for someone with the technical knowledge to copy from the originals it can be out own cloning project.

Regards Gerard
