Running water through more than once will make the coffee a bit bitter. Probably fine for the machine.

I'm struggling to appreciate the worthwhile difference. It's just the size of pod by the looks of it. So yes, double dipping is far cheaper than a new machine.

Personally, I find that most blends are fine being topped up Americano style, or as I mostly do, with microwaved milk. Does it just as I like.

Hi Ian
+2
I have also been using the Microwave technique for the milk for some years.
This gives the added advantage of warming the cup, and also saves me washing a seperate frother

Yes. It helps dilute the taste of the raspberry

Just found that Aldi now offer Nespresso compatible pods at Pounds 1.60 for 10.
The Ristretto strength 10 is very good for everyday drinking and they work perfectly in my Magimix Citiz machine. They also carry the "Which Best Buy" recommendation.
Compared to Nespresso Ristretto at 0.33p each, they are great value.

Price aside, my preferred third-party capsules are Starbucks Espresso and L’Or Ristretto.

Recently, I replaced my original Nespresso Aerocinno (jug type) with a new Aerocinno 4. What a difference...

The internal coating is easier to clean,
There’s only one dual purpose whisk, rather than two,
You can clean the main jug in the dishwasher,
Options are: cold milk (summer), hot milk, capucinno, latte macchiato,
The Milk is HOT,
The foam density in making latte macchiato is thick enough to insulate wall cavities,
No need to spoon-out the foam: it all comes out on pouring,
Soy Milk does not burn onto the coating,
The lid seals better, so no spillages in use.

Recommended.

But have you tried the ALDI offering?
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality for 16p a go. A double ALDI is 1p cheaper than a single from Nespresso.

For Nespresso price you could read Meridian Special Sauce price

Must say, my best purchase of 2017 for sheer ongoing enjoyment was a Lavazza Minu Latte machine for £35 reduced from £120. I'm a Lavazza fan anyway and only recently discovered that pod machines were available under their brand (AEG make them), so when this appeared it would have been rude not to!

The pods work out around 25p, there's a good range of options, and to my taste are much better than any other pod machine coffee I've tasted (Nespresso and Tassimo). The milk frother on the machine works well, and all in all it produces coffee which is as good as the majority of retail offerings. I know it's not going to compete with freshly ground, properly tamped and pulled coffee, but for sheer ease of use...

Cheers

George
