One pro for the NUC is that it has lugs for VEGA mount, meaning you can mount it on the back of a touchscreen.

I have one mounted like that on the back of a 23" touchscreen and it makes for a lot of fun, Control:15 like...

So what's the best way to connect a Mac Mini running Roon Software that's 100 feet away in another room from the DAC I'm using?

USB Extender (Which one?) or?

Connecting it to another PC or Mac running as Roon client over the network.

Or get an MS200/MS600 to replace the DAC.

Or just plug the MS200 optical output into the DAC optical input, if you really want to keep the DAC.

I know there is lot of "Roon" knowledge I need to catch up on. Before I find time to do that, could anyone advise if a "Roon" installed PC and an ID40 endpoint is all I need?

In my case, could my surface P3 works as core/store/control?

Yes that should work, obviously you need a store/disk for the library to be on.

Core: Yes.
Control: Yes.
Store: Yes. However, you need to check if the P3 has enough space to store all the albums (or put them on a NAS).

I might urge caution with the Surface Pro 3...

How many High Res albums do you have??

Do you have an 802.11 AC wireless network??

Just for checking the possibility, the performance of the network connectivity and long timing running all could be problem.

Storage? - Does Roon build-in Tidal? wink

The lack of a RJ45 network connection into the SP3 could pose a problem for using it as a Server... the same would be true for any Roon Server that doesn't used a cabled ethernet connection.

The USB3 to Ethernet Adaptor might be a good investment if you plan to use the SP3 in the Roon Server role on a permanent basis serving a number of remote clients.

In the meantime, the SP3 can certainly be used for trial purposes to see how you like the Roon UI.

Thanks Ronnie, I already have the trial running.
The download of Roon installer is really slow, even use VPN.

I am a little worried about the Tidal. I will try and report later.
