Very enjoyable and informative visit to the Meridian Road show at Loud and Clear.
John, Simon, Ian and the dog from Loud and Clear were all very welcoming and with Chris and Paul from Meridian there as well to demonstrate not only the S.E's but also the whole range of Meridian equipment it was a great afternoon.
The full SE range was on demo as was a full Meridian theatre with the G65, DSP7200.2, DSP5200HC and 3200 rears with the Meridian MF10 projector.
I was particularly interested in the 7200SE as I have a pair of 7200.2 and an 861v6 with LPS, OE34 card and ID41 card. The difference between the SE's and the 7200.2 is immediately obvious.
The only way I can describe the sound stage is to say it was more three dimensional, a very clear central image with depth which appeared to reach above the height of the SE's. Another immediate difference was a in the bass reproduction almost 8000 like in quality. Their ability to resolve detail is better, on a close miked voice it was almost too real.
They appear to be more discriminating between the quality of recordings and the difference between the SE's and the 7200.2 was I felt more apparent on modern recordings than recordings from the 90's e.g. White Nights Catriona McKay 2011 and Joni Mitchell Night Ride Home 1991.
I also listened to the 8000SE's which were amazing but I will leave it to those who own 8000's to detail the difference between the SE's and non SE's.
For those who can it is well worth a visit the presentation by Chris from Meridian was superb really informative and detailed and Paul's wide knowledge of all things Meridian was really helpful.
Many thanks to all for a great day out.

Good observation, once the SE upgrades are out it would be best to have a 3 way audition 'standard' 'upgraded to SE' and 'SE' to compare, EBA could be turned on and off as appropriate.

Hi All
Last day of Meridian events today at Loud & Clear.
I just wanted to thank all the customers who attended and to pass a big thanks to Paul, Chris & indeed Bob from Meridian for being such a great help.
The customer feedback was amazing on the SE models with the 7200SE being the star of the show due to the optimisation of the system (although I liked the F type V6 exhaust sound best).
We should be installing a number of pairs of SE's in the coming months and I will let you all know how it goes.
regards
John
