The controls are on the wrong side, nice but not in my price bracket.
Skoda Yeti (abominable yes) might be possible with M gear.

mmmm Thats not bad really 4k to fit the full package on any car in the range.

You can pay up to 2k for a full sat nav music system on other makes.

Possible heresy on a hi-fi forum but to improve the sound in my car I'd fit the 2k titanium quad exit sports exhaust...

Another heretic here. I just don't think the in-car environment can justify very expensive audio gear. I like to hear the vehicle noises for control and diagnostic reasons.

It's all luxury marketing hype.

I test drove the new Range Rover a few weeks ago. I didn't switch on the ICE system.

The car is excellent.

I used to think the same but my opinion is changing (I have owned several different 911's over the years). With family at home (kids) I get less and less time and space to indulge myself listening to music (and I don't have a 911 anymore!). In fact I listen to music in my "more practical" car way more than at home. Having heard the Meridian system I have to admit that it was pretty damn special and I definitely wouldn't mind it in my car!

Well, I'm about to change the head unit in my 2001 Merc to something with DAB, line-in, USB and Bluetooth. I spend ~80 mins per day in my car during which the radio is always on. It just happens that the two radio stations I listen to mostly are only available on DAB (6Music and JazzFM), hence the change.

I wonder how many days/months/years it will be after I make my purchase before Meridian releases a retrofit head unit?

I had a ten-speaker Dynaudio in-car system in my last car, and for me it was totally worth the 3000 premium (without navi).

I'd do that sort of thing again like a flash, although I'm not sure when I will next do the economically foolish thing of buying a brand new car...

Tractor yes... Or the noise of 3 screaming fighting children!! No exhaust on the planet could block the noise.

Chris

More serious steps are required:

1: Matching luggage for their 18th Birthdays

2: Two seat car.

Cheers

I heard a RR with Meridian audio in it yesterday. Now I know why the parents in their RR's need to leave the engine running whilst waiting to pick their kids up.

At the risk of being thought a smarta**e, I got a new type RRS last December but I did not specify the Meridian ICE system. Why? well, as in my earlier posts on this thread, it's a car for driving and I don't consider it a good environment for serious listening.

BTW, the car is miles better than the previous model. I have tried it off road and I can't believe what it will go over. Much better than my previous BMW X5s.

The Range Rover currently in a long term test with Motor Trend just posted the update here, which focuses (not in a lot of depth) on the Meridian sound system.

The reviewer hadn't heard of Meridian before (even though their sister publication is Stereophile), but comes away impressed.

Cheers, Ian

This topic has some cross-polination form another on here; for me I wouldn't ever spend extra $$$ on a premium sound system in a car. For me it's largely radio & a 'decent' system is good enough.

I don't want to be distracted by listening out for the 3rd violin when I'm in a car; I have other things to do.
