I wonder if 5.40 firmware for DSP6k has apodizing filters build in, anyone know?

Do the 6k's upsample? I thought it was just the newer generation (curved cabinet and later [but not 7000s]) of speakers. If they don't upsample they won't apodise.

Meridian make a point of specifically mentioning apodizing on their firmware page. DSP3100s have it, for example, but it certainly doesn't look as if the 6ks do.

Sooloos, Roon, G series (with LPS upgrade), 800 series (with LPS upgrade), HD621, AC200, Prime and PS, DSPs old and new.

Purdeys, Moke, Leica, 'Blad. Only the best.

Hi Gents,

I can confirm that the 6ks do not have apodising with the new firmware.

Cheers
George

Do you agree that the 33s, 5ks, 5k5s, 6ks and 7ks don't up-sample?

+1

One can check in the Meridian Audio's firmware release notes, see link at the bottom of this page.

For DSPs that have had support for appodising added it is listed with one of these:

Apodising upsample filter
New upsampling filter

Carl

Hi VK

Yes, that would be my understanding. I notice that the 5.4 firmware for the larger DSPs notes 'improved processing resolution' as distinct from the 1.4 (8k) firmware which specifies 'apodising upsample filter'.

Cheers
George

Hi George,

v5.40 firmware is for the non-upsampling DSPs. [Exception DSP7000 which has v1.40]

v1.40 firmware is for the upsampling and now appodizing DSPs. [Exception DSP7000 which does not upsample]

Regards,
Carl

That had me reaching for my laptop to check! Taken out of context that might mislead someone (me) into thinking that his 7000's that run v1.4 firmware might have up sampling and apodizing. smile
