Steve, I think there's a bit of confusion going on here.
When you talk about HD signals, which kind are you talking about? The new codecs on BD discs? 96/24 PCM or MHR?
If you mean Dolby TrueHD or DTS Master Audio, these are only ever passed digitally via HDMI, never SPDIF or optical as far as I know. They can either be passed as bitstreams for a mass market processor to decode (eg Onkyo or Yamaha), or the source itself will decode them (all profile 2.0 BD players, which must be all of them now), the resulting 6 or 8 channels of linear PCM being passed along HDMI with the video signal (a Meridian HD621 strips out these linear PCM signals to send to the processor).
Even when connected directly via HDMI to your sources, your TV is unlikely to be benefiting from the new codecs unless it can decode them, and is far more likely to be receiving a stereo downmix of standard DD/DTS from the source.
the HD signals which the v2/v3 562s can pass is stereo linear PCM 96/24 (never checked that myself), via SPDIF, so nothing really to do with the newer BD multichannel codecs.
I'll stop there as I may be teaching Granny to suck eggs, but do let us know...
Cheers
George

Hi George,
Here's what's happening;
FreeSatHD-HDMI>TV PS3-------HDMI>TV
If I then run optical from either of these, via a 3 way optical to Coax converter, into the DSPs, the sound drops out with HD TV channels, and there's no sound from Blu-ray films on the PS3.
I am saving up for an 808i, which should solve my problems, and just wanted something with 2 optical inputs in the mean time.
If I run the optical from the TV, then at least I get sound from all sources, which is fine for now.
Regards Steve

Thanks Guy's,
The PS3 now shows 48x on the DSP's display, I'll have a play around.
The FreeSat however, has very limited options, but I'll keep trying.

Thanks everyone, it's all sorted now. The FreeSat remote has a separate button for this purpose!!!
