What about a replacement for the M remote - touch screen similar to the RTI ST-7.

At least something similar to the Sooloos tablet, but a tad smaller.

3x DSP5200 LCR and in the process of upgrading to 13.2 Dolby Atmos with the Denon AVR-X8500H and Triad Silvers for surrounds/sub.

I have a feeling that they will announce new Sooloos product/s I have just a gut feeling that they will have done something with the control 20 that was announced nearly a year ago and nothing has become of it.

It would be great if they developed it further and really consider peoples needs in which they interact and access their music. Had Meridian started the product line from scratch perhaps they would not have made it the way it is today. 17" screen ect..... I hope and believe Meridians design ethic would be a lot more considered than this solution.

Roll on CES

Whats wrong with the 800 cases & display?
What you want improve with MRC besides automatic calibration?
What do you mean with "Removal of analogue switching"-do you mean the HDMI upgrade, so you can go over HD621?

The other points I agree with you.
The mc config fetch back should work on 800/861-

Hi Robert,
I just checked in M-Config and the 861 does support two height channels, as apposed the G68 which does not. There are some new codecs that support discrete height channels, but I take on board VK's point on the current catalogue.

If the standby on an 861 is only 2.5 Watts that's good enough for me, but the EC wants it down to only 1 Watt. I`ll have to dig out my multi-meter and measure all my AV kit and post results.

Personal, I`m happy with the 800 series cases and the display for the matter.
However, some on here have made comments though. What I would like is a better remote. I think a fully integrated Meridian-Sooloos compact tablet controller with WiFi and battery powered would be very cool.

Improved MRC, may be a calibrated (digital) mic, to remove the dependence on 3rd party SPL meters and enable a better S/N ratio to be obtained. Some new M-Magic in algorithms, improved.

Removal of analogue video switching; video is digital now a days, I`m suggesting that M should consider removing analogue video switching and processing from it processors.

May be M should improve their 2k digital video scalers?

I don`t understand your comment on “mc config fetch back should work …” with respect to my original post.

Trust this helps,
Carl.

Carl

thanks for clarification, thats are good suggestions.

My command "fetch back" have nothing do to with your post.
I just adding my wish, that i would be glad when the today things are working,
but you are right-we should wish us more features.
Be carefull with the multimeter, you have to have a true RMS meter.
I have some oscilloscope pictures from the power current and voltage from different M equipment.
I have to look, how i can get it on the forum.

Robert

I think this would be a great idea!

I would LOVE to see a 7" wireless screen that communicates to a Sooloos storage unit. It would be even better if it would double up as a new MSR+ remote control and super slim. You just don't need a massive 17" screen dominating the room or audio rack. All the screen is essentially is a switch that turns music on or off ect..... All the audio components could be neatly stored in a storage unit in the audio rack. It could communicate wifi. Mmmm could the new rumoured apple tablet product serve this purpose........ Lets wait and see I guess.

I am with you on the wish for a new remote. The MSR+ is very unimpressive. I would love a touch-screen one, but with a real volume control (like the original Quad 66 series remote) - especially as they use the real volume control on the G68 as a selling point. One can dream.

Thanks for the tip on the multimeter, fortunately I have true RMS (Fluke) one.

You could drop George a PM about the images, he might put them in the Wiki.

Carl.

I am quite happy with the MSR+, and so hope Meridian concentrate on improving sound and vision rather than gadgets (I expect a storm of protest at this). The major interface problems are with HD621 handshakes, and setting up the processors, rather than with a remote control. Let them sort out the fundamentals as a priority.

I would also expect the main innovations from Meridian to be further development of Sooloos to bring its performance levels closer to other Meridian kit.

I think a new tablet-style remote makes sense for a Sooloos + pair of DSP system.

But for a multi-channel system, anyone with "new Meridian" money will have a Crestron and have it programmed for them.
